Clearing lung technique I found by accident
I just recently started going to Mayo Clinic. My Dr. Scheduled a CT Scan and some pulmonary tests on the 28Th. I had been diagnosed with bronchiecstasis and mac lung by my pulmonologist in Tallahassee but all they were addressing was the mac lung and doing nothing about clearing my lungs so the Mayo clinic was set up as a second opinion. When they put me through CT scan on my back with knees bent I noticed mucus came right to my throat. I had been nebulising with albutrol and 3% saline since my first appointment on 2/11 and although I felt good after albutrol I was still not coughing up much sputum even after flutter valve. After CT I had an hour to waste before next test I went to my car and I coughed up a huge amount of sputum. I thought wow I hope I have more for my sputum test. After my pft I sat for 20 minutes with saline and produced nothing. I told tech about what happened after CT scan and she put me in a recliner for 5 minutes and I was able to bring up sputum. I googled this and it is an actual technique that I am now using everyday with success every time. After nebulising or if you can if mucus gets in your throat Lie on your back with your hips on two pillows and knees bent. Your head should slightly off bed. Do this for 5-10 minutes and the mucus is in your lower lungs will drain to your throat. I also clap my lower lungs to get it moving more. I also put my hands over my head and inhale and hokd it several times just like CT scan. It might not work for everyone but it works every time for me with large amounts of sputum that I have not been able to bring up even with a flutter valve. Google it.

Mayo gave me a booklet on postural drainage as part of my airway clearance. I do neb with albuterol, Aerobika, then 2 positions (I alternate) for 5-10" each. It has illustrations showing which area of lung is drained each position. I looked at CT 's and concentrate on those areas. The info is also on the web.
Thanks so much! This is helpful.
How I discovered, I had bronchi Éxtasis: about 15 years ago, I used to sit in bed with two pillows, propped behind me to watch golf on a Sunday afternoon. When I got up, I had tons of mucus to clear. Went to a pulmonologist, and he explained that mucus adheres to the front of the lungs, and when you put pressure on your back, it falls off of the front and it’s now loose in your lungs. Anytime I lie on my back I produce loose mucus. About two years ago. I was diagnosed with Mac. I’ve decided not to take meds. I’ll be 90 shortly. I would like to stay around a little longer, but I know my body cannot handle the medication.
since I started azithromycin, rifabutin and 3 times IV of amykacin, three weeks ago, I practically stopped coughing; I use albuterol/ipraprotium bromide nebulizer in the morning and a few times a day aerobica- I do not produce mucus- good or bad i do not know. I am seeing my pulmonologist next month. I try other ways to clear my air passages, but nothing comes out. But I am very tired all the time- is it the side effects of the meds? I am also very giddy and cannot find a spot to stay- it feels as some inner force is pushing me constantly to move on. Has anybody experiences these , I believe side effects ,of the meds? Any thoughts on this?
Thank you, wal6578. I have started doing your special technique every evening, before bed and it does definitely help bring up the schmutz in my lungs. I really appreciate you sharing it with us!
Will you please share with me your remade? I have clear mucus caught most nights although my lungs are clear I had a C-scan of my lungs Doctor said I have no disease
TY dan.
I have asked this before, but received no response; has anyone tried supporting the lungs and overall health with accupuncture and Chinese herbs and noticed any improvement?
I've never tried acupuncture, but I've heard good things about it from people who do. When it comes to Chinese herbs, I would use extreme caution. Many of them have been found to contain heavy metals.
I was taking Clear Lungs for some time but now switched to Mullein. I also take NAC, echinacea & garlic. (The garlic daily but the others every other day). I was diagnosed more than 2.5 years ago & am not on the Big 3. (My choice). I do not know if I’ve gotten better but I have certainly not gotten worse. Take care!
p.s. no acupuncture for me.
Thank you.
What is NAC, and why not
accupuncture?
