Neuropathy feel like I'm sitting on something?
Recently I've Had The Sensation that I'm sitting on something in the car seat. I thought I was sitting on my wallet, other times sitting on the couch it feels like there's something underneath of me and the saddle area of my bottom and I was told by a doctor at Loma Linda neuropathy Clinic to watch for that sensation. A few weeks later I actually started having it. I don't think it's in my mind I can actually feel something, there , she had told me from my explaining my back problems to her and degenerative disc and sciatica along with leg nerve pain and neuropathy she said to watch for that and let my doctor know.

My husband used to feel pain while driving because of sitting on his wallet but for two years he has left his wallet our of his pocket. Now for three months he feels like he is sitting on his wallet and it’s painful.
He was diagnosed with severe progressive PN after three years of testing. The dx came after he went to Vancouver for EMG testing . After that he doesn’t ever see a dr and is just given gabapentin for pain. So no dr ever asked about the feeling of sitting on his wallet.
At least I can tell you that you aren’t the only one.
Thank you very much God bless you and your husband pray that he gets better the reason why I recognize that when I talked to one of the physical therapist MD's at Loma Linda Medical Center neuropathy Clinic she asked me if I had any sensation in the saddle area I didn't know what she meant at the time and I said no later on a few weeks to a month maybe at the most I started feeling like I was sitting on my wallet or something cuz sometimes I take my wallet out and set it on the seat and it slides back but it was in my pocket then I noticed sitting on the couch it felt like I was sitting on something it's not painful yet but she had mentioned it to me and she said that if it did happen to tell my Primary Health Care I have some questions that I'm going to ask them about neuropathy I'm thinking that Lord willing I'm praying that I can go out there for treatment because they really have told me time and time again that they have had success at rejuvenating dead nerves people that didn't have any feeling that they brought it back and they also teach you things to do when you get home they check you for inflammation they do all kinds of tests they do ultrasound test and they are really not that expensive it's not covered by insurance but one or two days in the hospital would be more than the 10 or 12 days of Outpatient Therapy that they give you three or four hours a day so I'm really praying to be able to go and the MD that I talk to is going to call me back next week I have some questions they're very very encouraging and helpful in the calls and the video consultation are free
Also I noticed that you're in Canada and I've been in touch with Calgary neuropathy Association they're really helpful they have webinars and they have a lot of people that share their experiences on their website and you might look that at Calgary neuropathy Association
My PN has my feet often off balance, a lot of folks describe it as if walking on bubble wrap or an uneven surface. I'll offer to you that when I sit on a carseat or stool, it often feels the same way with the body parts where the weight is on the seat.
I have had this sensation also. I describe it as feeling like I am wearing a wetsuit and when I am seated, I feel like my bottom is slipping on my wetsuit, but it is really my flesh that is the wet suit. Also, I noticed this feeling when I was driving; it was a bit disconcerting. It is a bit similar to my very first symptom of PN which was the sensation of wearing socks, when I had no socks on.
I ave not reported this to any doctor. I have not seen my neurologist since my initial confirmation of PN, nearly 20 years ago. I have very little pain or discomfort- my worst symptom is poor balance particularly in dappled or poor light and constipation and occasional "bobble head" sensation.
I am doing Tai Chi for balance and general fitness and wellbeing- it helps!
If you are male, Prostatitis can cause the sensation of sitting on something…like a golf ball for example. I experienced this in 2014.
I have this sensation also. I was hoping that someone on here could tell me what causes it, and whether I should be worried.
Your discomfort can be tight muscles in your pelvic area. I experienced this and found a physical therapist who spcialized in treating this. Involves internal massage to loosen some muscles and exercises as well. Check out the book “A headache in the Pelvis”available on Amazon. Not saying that’s your problem but might be. The fact that books have been written indicates you’re not alone.

When my neuropathy came on suddenly, it caused tingling and numbness from my toes up through my buttocks. I felt like I was sitting on rocks and pebbles. Now, almost 12 years later, I’ve become so used to this feeling that I barely notice it anymore. Would still love to go back to sitting on a smooth surface again.
