Osteoporosis treatment or strontium citrate?
Is reclast a safe treatment for osteoporosis I have not done anything so far except strontium citrate?
***Director's Note:***
There’s not enough research to know if strontium fights osteoporosis. Also, the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements in the same way as prescription drugs, so it's not possible to know if if they are safe or work well or even how much of the main ingredient they contain.
If you want to take a strontium supplement, it is recommended to ask your doctor first.

Thank you for responding. Every word I read seems to help me feel not so alone until now.
Is anyone familiar with low density vibration as a treatment? The more I read the less I want to take any of the medications and vibration is how astronauts regain bone after space flight.
This website has good info about low intensity vibration…

My functional medicine Dr recommended it but the cost of buying my own machine is out of reach right now.
Hi, Meg9
I've been getting pulsed electromagnetic frequency treatments ((PEMF) for about 8 months now. The machine is called ONDAMED. I found out about it at a natural medicine facility near me. I don't know if it has helped increase my bone density yet, but it did help immensely with shoulder pain when I tore my rotator cuff. Best wishes for good health.
Many thanks. I will look into this. Best wishes to you as well.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society in the UK has comments on this therapy. https://theros.org.uk/latest-news/2020-11-12-can-vibration-therapy-help-those-living-with-osteoporosis/
From what I learned when I looked into it during summer 2022, the Hz need to be at 30Hz, and low 'g' level. I purchased a LifePro 4D Rumblex. The Pulsation motor delivers 30 Hz at the 14-15 level. (The company sent me the details when I asked for them) I've been trying that twice a day. I have yet to have the 6 month scan to see if it has done much good. I am also trying to add extra protein at every meal , and taking vitamin K2.
I won’t take calcium. It builds up
in blood vessels and causes blockage. It can also cause kidney stones. I use collagen type II and III in a powder form in my coffee. This is all new to me. I hope I am doing the correct treatment. No pharmaceuticals for me due to terrible side effects. I also take strontium citrate, fish oil, vitamin d3, and K2. I just started

There are different types of calcium…carbonate, citrate, gluconate and lactate.
Each are absorbed differently by the body and calcium citrate seems to be the best for bones. I personally don’t take a calcium supplement as I get enough in my diet but I think a lot of people may not be aware of the different types and may just grab a bottle off the shelf and also not be aware that calcium is often included in other supplements and multi vitamins.
It’s really a crap shoot with supplements and all the manufacturers who constantly push the hundreds and hundreds of different types. It’s why we have entire aisles in food stores called dedicated just to “Vitamins”.
But that’s another discussion…..

I had osteoporosis diagnosed shortly after menopause and was put on Fosamax by my physician. I saw very little improvement in hips, and worsening of spine, taking Fosamax and took myself off it after 4 years due to severe side effects including nausea, vomiting, heartburn, etc. My doctor never heard of strontium citrate for bone building. Based on reading on my own I then tried a natural combination of algae calcium and strontium citrate supplements (680mg nightly).
My stomach problems disappeared and I have steadily gained bone density over 4 years, including a whopping 10% increase in my spine and 6-8% hips in the last two years. I’ve had no ill effects taking strontium. I am now in osteopenia territory and very happy with my progress
My doctor never heard of strontium citrate for treating osteoporosis when I asked her opinion on it, so I’m glad I self treated myself and went off the Fosamax that caused many serious problems including nausea, vomiting, and heartburn. Strontium Citrate has caused no side effects and I have increased bone density
