TKR

Posted by kellyhall @kellyhall, Apr 16, 2022

Hi
I may be in the wrong group and if so I'm sorry I had a TKR on 4-4-2022 and I'm doing well I've started PT . I've started having horrible stabbing burning pains in my inner thigh with movement. I'm using ice and elevation and it does help . I'm just hoping it's not something that can't wait until Monday when I see the PT person again .any input would be helpful. Thank you

I think a leg support pillow is the triangle shaped one. I will order one if that's what you mean.

I had tkr of my right knee almost two yrs ago. Sadly I never had relief because now I am getting referred pain from my hip, in my knee. I have a lot of arthritis in the hip and now may need a hip replacement. I have heard great things about hip replacement in comparison. I am looking forward to walking without pain. Anyone have both surgeries?

I've had both and hip replacement is a piece of cake compared to TKR. Everyone told me the first 2 weeks were tough. Boy were they right! But after 2 weeks, the pain became less, and slowly but surely, much less pain than before TKR. PT is so critical. I had been through PT for a tibia plateau fracture where ROM bending was crucial, but I didn't understand until I had to work at it that straightening the leg is also crucial after TKR. I've heard from others, and my PT emphasized, if you don't get ROM back quickly, you may never get it back. An ice machine is a tremendous help, continuous movement and an encouraging physical therapist are critical!

I had tkr almost 2 yrs ago. I now have very painful scar tissue affecting my healing and physical therapy 2 x a week helps a little. I can’t see myself without pain and it upsets me. Anyone else have this problem and what have you done?

After a visit with my dr, it turns out that I have referred pain from my hip which had considerable arthritis. Hip replacement?

I am only 5 months post surgery, but I am curious as to why they are saying it is scar tissue. Have you lost ROM…
Are they using ASTYM to help break up the scar tissue?
I hope you get some relief .

Turns out that it’s referred pain from my very arthritic hip. Might need hip replacement
