PMR/GCA and lung nodule
I have PMR/GCA
I just found out I have a 9 mm pleural based left lower lobe pulmonary nodule. I was told it is probably due to inflammation, but need a follow up in three months.
Even though I was told it is probably benign and due to inflammation and lots of people have them. It’s freaking me out has anyone else had this experience?

I have PMR and when I had a CT of my shoulder for replacement surgery a small nodule was seen on my lung. I then had CT of both lungs and no additional nodules were seen on the lungs but then was seen a small and a larger nodule on my Thyroid. A biopsy was done on the larger one due to its size and it was benign. Doctors were not very concerned about them, they will rescan them in a year and told me most older people have nodules they just don’t know it. I have decided not to worry until something changes. Plenty of other issues to be concerned about and with PMR we need to avoid unnecessary stress. Best wishes to you.
Thank you so much !
I greatly appreciate your response
I also have 7 small nodules on my right lung and two on my left. I have had two scans in five months. The doctors feel it happens to many people and not to worry. Can this be caused by PMR?
Thank you so much for your
reply. You have brought me much comfort today ❤️
@issyb, I agree with the information the @lsm47's and @queenie2030's doctors shared. According to Mayo Clinic "Lung nodules are small clumps of cells in the lungs. They're very common. Most lung nodules are scar tissue from past lung infections. Lung nodules usually don't cause symptoms. They're often found by accident on a chest X-ray or CT scan done for some other reason." https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/lung-cancer/expert-answers/lung-nodules/faq-20058445
"Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an inflammatory condition. ... Lung involvement in patients with PMR is unusual." (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7060987/)

As has already been said, many people have lung nodules. It's good that your doctors have suggested follow-up to monitor them.
