Phonak Hearing Aid Interference from Neighbor

Posted by gencha @gencha, Apr 16, 2023

My hearing aid started "bluetooth streaming +mic" on its own, blasting into my ear. The TV and radio were not on. I live in a senior apt. building. How could this be happening and how are they streaming into my hearing aid? Could wires be crossed? There were possibly five new apartment hookups and that is when the trouble started. My audiologist reset everything but it keeps happening. The first time it happened it came on so loud it scared me and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Help please.

Day 10 Update. Factory reset did not solve the problem. Hijacked again. Nothing more to say.

I’m very sorry to hear that Phonak was unable to help you. I don’t know where you are in your ownership period, but I would try and return the aids and get another brand from your audiologist.

@jcdf - thank you. They are not quite a year old. I am so disgusted. This morning I shut down my phone, my tv was off and the streaming began in the right hearing aid and could not be stopped until I opened the battery door. I agree with you on returning the aids.

Finally, with the help of the manufacturer again, the audiologist was able to reprogram my HA and I no longer am being blasted by someone's television streaming in my ear. It's been a long 12 days of daily interruption and partial hearing (with one hearing aid only). Amazing how Peace and Quiet sounds (I say while smiling).

Happy to report an update on my Phonak HA, which were sent to manufacturer and found to have electronic problems and they were replaced. All is quiet and working on getting comfortable settings once again.
