Bone pain from Neulasta (pegfilgrastim)

Hi,
I’m taking nulasta the day after chemo to help boost white cells. The bone pain is horrible! Anyone have any suggestions for lessening the pain.

I have experienced severe bone pain from two different treatments. It can be quite intense, as you expressed. After being told that some patients got relief from taking over the counter Claritin, I asked my oncologist about it and was given his okay. In both cases I took it few days before through few days after and had very significant pain relief. Later a drug rep from one of the drug companies said his company had begun suggesting it. We are all different but it may be worth conversation with your ordering physician.

My initial treatment for ovarian cancer was carbo/Taxel and I had Neulasta after each treatment. The Neulasta definitely causes bone pain, and I was instructed to take Claritin every day Which I did, and got relief from the bone pain.

I was instructed to take Claritin for the bone pain and it definitely works. I took it every day.

Dr suggested taking 1 Claritin right after infusion, and placement of thing, then once a day for 3-4 days. It made a HUGE difference fir my bone pain. Hope it helps yours.

Has anyone had bone pain from G-CSF shot that did not subside even after taking Claritin or ibuprofen? Did anything else work for you? I’m on day 5 after my g shot and the pain is really hard. My oncologist suggested I take Claritin twice a day but it does nothing for me. Thinking about forgoing the shot for my remaining cycles but worried about the risk of infection.

Hi. The injection you are taking is probably neulasta. I had horrific bone pain in my jaws and hips. Worse than the chemo. I tried so many pain meds and nothing helped but the regular Claritin - not Claritin D taken the day before and day of and day after my shot worked for me. Good luck
