@bcoressel

Has anyone been diagnosed with Hyperaldosteronism and how are you being treated for it? My bp can get hard to control and I was just diagnosed with Hyperaldosteronism and I have a fatty tumor in my left adrenal gland, but the doctor said that even though there is a small tumor, it may not be that adrenal gland that is releasing too much aldosterone

@bcoressel I want to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect. I see you joined in January and posted about blood pressure. You just posted about hyperaldosteronism (that is a mouthful!) and something I’m not familiar with. Is it too much aldosterone (a hormone) produced in the endocrine (ductless gland) system? I am curious. Would you mind telling me more?

It is too much aldosterone (sodium) that the adrenal gland produces. The kidneys are supposed to tell the adrenal gland when to release extra aldosterone. In my case, the adrenal glands release extra on their own

@bcoressel, I moved your question about hyperaldosteronism to this existing discussion of the same name:
- Hyperaldosteronism: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/hyperaldosteronism-second-opinion/

I did this so that you can also connect with @bjfons @dawn_giacabazi as well as @cehunt57.

What treatment is being suggested for you? I suspect the first goal will be to get the blood pressure under control. Are you taking any medication for that?

Hello!
I have primary hyperaldosteronism, severe labile resistant hypertension for which I take four different blood pressure medicine. Seven years ago I had an AVS (adrenal gland sampling. This test revealed my right adrenal gland was over producing aldosterone. After further testing discovered I had a mylipoma (tumer) in the right adrenal gland. I have seen about a dozen doctors with all saying wait and see if it grows. I am now diabetic, can barley walk due to severe muscle cramps. Lots of ER visits. Everything had been slowly progressing until end of December. My pharmacy messed up and gave script for wrong dose of medicine. I normally takes 25mg tables of hydralazine but they gave me 100mg tablets. After that the tumor went crazy. Triple production of aldosterone and tumor doubled in size. But now it is diagnosed as a pheochromiocytoma. I am scheduled to have the adrenal gland removed on 5/3.
Thanks
Dawn
