Can an EMG study stir up pains? Lumbosacral polyradiculopathy anyone?

Posted by Nemo1 @nemo1, Apr 10, 2023

I had EMG on Friday past. I woke with a full length leg spasm and problems with my left arm. I’m feeling tight in assorted areas. I typically get spasms, but I’m really feeling it today.

Twice I had electric shock like pain in buttocks right side. It is the worst sudden pain to date along with spasms.

Did they find out the cause of the Lumbo sacral and cervical poly radiculopathy? Dr wants MRI to see if its compression vs. inflammation.

She will want to do a spina tap depending on outcome of MRI.

I have problems and its scaring me.

My recent EMG seemed to flair up my pain pretty bad although the test (expectedly) came back normal.

I’m sorry the EMG caused you pain. Was the pain during and days later? Yesterday I had a lot of pain (spasms) in different muscle groups throughout the day and that was three days later (like a flare up).

It started very soon after the test (in the car on the drive home) and lasted over 24 hours. Of course hard to pin it directly on the EMG but mornings are usually my best part of the day.
