I may have messed up and already answered rhis. But what the heck: I've lost strength, a big concern for me now is the Prednisone I'm taking. I just makes me hungry, do you have this issue and if so what are you doing to combat it.
How I found out about my prostrate cancer would take some typing

I too am on Prednisolone 10 mg because I am on Abiraterone 1000 mg daily. I too have a ravenous appetite, but apart from trying to cut down a bit on my carbs, I am doing nothing. I used to walk for over 3 miles everyday which I had to give up because of extreme fatigue post radiation. I re-commenced walking 10 days back and 5 days ago I slipped and have had an ankle injury. So, back to no exercises and just hogging and keeping as happy as I can!!!

This group is quite helpful and helps me to connect the dots. I never thought of the medications as being to blame for the fact that I can no longer do my chin-up routine. I tended to blame my age (82) and a shoulder injury which caused me to lay off. However, my brother went through a 2 year course for his prostate cancer and he complained about a loss of energy so it starts to make sense. Thanks to Mayo for hosting this group, which I look at as a support group.

I have been off Eligard since June 2022. I am off Xtandi too. The fatigue improves after discontinuing Eligard. I took it for so long due to having a very aggressive cancer. Gleason 9. 24 months for your husband may be enough but his urologist decides that. Some people are off and on this drug. Best for your husband. He needs to stay positive. It’s a long and difficult road but it may lead to a beautiful destination.

Good to know that your fatigue is better. Have your testosterone and psa remained low after discontinuing treatments?

I also take Aberaterone (generic Zytiga) along with Prednisone. That combination has put my cancer into dormancy and I’m enjoying a great quality of life. Also in my favor is being somewhat of a health nut (exercise, etc.).

In patients with serum testosterone castrate levels, hormone-refractory prostate cancer is defined as 2-3 consecutive rises in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels obtained at intervals of greater than 2 weeks and/or documented disease progression based on findings from CT scan and/or bone scan, bone pain, or ...Aug 9, 2022 COPY

I took just one shot of Lupron and had major side-effects . Severe muscle pain, fatigue and pain at side of injection that I was not expecting. So I took Eligard from that point on. My case may not be the norm . It is widely used and maybe cheaper than Eligard.

My husband is on Lupron. Are you saying the Eligard has less fatigue? I would love to know of any ADT that has less fatigue. I assumed the fatigue was from low testosterone.

Yes. T levels too low I believe. I have been off treatment for 7 months now and T levels have been 20 and 21 and PSA has remained undetectable. I was told it would take longer for my T levels to go up because of the fact I was on ADT for so long. My gynecomastia is improved. It was so dramatic at one point that I did not even want my wife to see me without a shirt.
