Large Adnexal Cyst found by CT scan

Just wanted to know if anyone has had a a large adnexal cyst found and if it was removed. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and went through chemo and radiation therapy. During a routine CT scan before chemo, a large cyst was discovered but it didn't look suspicious so we left it as.
I also did a couple of vaginal ultrasounds to monitore it over the years. It has remain stable. I also have done an MRI with no added information. However, all doctors have recommended it me to remove the cyst because it is large (12cm). I am kinda scared of removing it and finding out that it is malignant even though all tests/scans/us show that its not suspicious. I went to see last week a gyno surgeon who recommends to do the surgery to remove the cyst but also to remove both ovaries since I'm already menopausal and 47 years old. Would you do it? I have no symptoms. It's not bothering me. Why mess around with something that is asymptomatic plus it doesn't look suspicious. Am I missing something?

I got a surgery date for removal of the large cyst and will be doing also a bilateral salpingo oopheractomy and I am so scared!
Any comments, suggestions any personal experience. Please reply to give me courage.

I just had the same surgery in October and was frightened beyond words. They thought I had ovarian cancer but thankfully it all turned out so well. The surgery was quick (about an hour and 15 minutes) and the mass ended up being a large mature teratoma which is benign. They released me from the hospital that night. The only problem I had was from the carbon dioxide they pump into your abdomen. It’s very uncomfortable for about 5 days. I’m 64 years old and recovered while also recovering from the effects of hurricane Ian. You’ll do fine. It’s such a common surgery. Good luck to you. Please keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for replying and reassuring me. When were you able to drive after surgery? A few days after or weeks after?

I was able to drive right away but decided to wait a couple weeks.

No not yet. I’m scheduled for surgery April 11th.
I’m freaking out. I don’t know what time and it is stressing me. I will only know one day before. Haven’t done any prescreening tests either 🤷‍♀️

I was right where you are last October. The surgery was very quick (about an hour and half) and the recovery was much easier than I thought it would be. I had 2 C-sections and this was much easier. They believed I had ovarian cancer and were going to take 15 extra minutes during surgery to do staging but didn’t need to do that because they found a large teratoma instead which was welcome news. They look like cancer on scans and X-rays because they are mostly solid. I actually walked out of the hospital that night after just 12 hours. I was so happy the allowed me to go home and sleep in my own bed. Best of luck to you. You’ll be fine. Believe that. I’m praying for you.

Thanks for your encouraging words. One thing I’m worried about is finding out that the mass/cyst is malignant even though everything, all scans, tests show that it is not.
