Thanks so much for responding. I often feel like I am the only one who is dealing with this. I have not had one caregiver in all these years say “I have had another patient with chronic eructation.”, even when I have asked directly, and have never believed I must be the only one. I do not know of one other person in my life for ten years that appeared to be dealing with this, it’s kind of hard to hide. I like to think I can “burp quietly” most of the time by not opening my mouth, but everyone knows because it is really obvious anyway.
So we’ll watch this thread carefully, maybe someone else will know things we haven’t tried that actually work. Are CBT , Hypnosis, or anything else not mentioned in my list, something you have considered or tried had a health professional even suggest?
We will both sleep better and have a whole new life if we ever get to the bottom of this….!

I have not tried CBT or hypnosis, but have tried all of the gas, acid reflux medications. My GI doc thinks I am swallowing air, so like you I am very aware of taking in air as I am eating. To me it seems to be a reaction that happens after eating a substantial meal. Small amounts of low fodmap foods do not cause it. But if I have a restaurant meal or a complete dinner I am belching and sometimes have bloating/pain. I’m glad I could make you feel like you are not alone! I don’t know of anyone that has this either.
