Problems with Dehydration: What do you do to keep hydrated?
A two year whipple survivor having problems with enzymes. Ceron. Because of my issues, bloating, bowel dumping, stomach pain. I become dehydrated and have to go to ER and get IV fluids. I feel wonderful, thought. I was dying. My question is does anyone else have dehydration problems and what do you do to keep hydrated? I drink Gatorade daily and only water. Thank you

I definitely feel woozy (and occasionally just light-headed) when I'm not drinking regularly. One of my former colleagues, when asked about symptoms among her current chemotherapy patients said that hydration, hydration, hydration, was what made them feel better. She suggested organizing your bottles for the day and numbering them, then drinking them throughout the day at a regular interval, as a way of ensuring you're getting what you need.
I've been drinking only water, and attempting to get 64 oz per day. There are various formulas for how much to drink, so perhaps your physician can tell you which to use.
You can also try with things like Gatorade, dehydration formulas in packets to add to water, Propel, other sports drinks. IV hydration is usually normally normal saline (9 grams sodium per liter), or 1/2 normal sodium (4.5 grams per liter) and not just water (D5W). Ask what fluids you are getting when you go to the ER, also about your electrolytes, is the sodium, potassium, magnesium level abnormal when you have been dehydrated? This will also say something about what you need in your fluids.
I am sorry about your problem. I deal with dehydration by buying small bottles of water, as my urologist wants me to drink at least 64-85 oz of fluids each day. I understand it is hard to keep track, but having the small bottles handy has made a difference. Best of luck.
@crickard70, I hope you saw the helpful posts from @frances007 @gardenlady1116 @ajh5285.
It can be challenging to stay hydrated while on Creon. It is recommended to drink 10 glasses of water or liquid daily. This may seem over simplified, but I was once told that you should get a glass or water bottle that you like. It will help you drink more or at least enjoy drinking it.
Have you been able to stay hydrated since you posted this question?
In addition to trying to focus on the amount of daily water intake, I look to have meal items with high water content such as soups, salads, jello, pudding, watermelon.
I have been able but I stopped Ceron and I am taking a natural supplement and feel better.

Cvs gold emblem brand generic of pedialyte. It's cheaper than cvs brand and much cheaper than pedialyte, similar ingredients.
Try Enterade which is a sugar free nutritional drink. Great for rehydration & nutrition during chemotherapy. Also helps with nausea & diarrhea. Available on Amazon.
Also going for twice weekly IV hydration helps a lot.
