Metanx
There’s research showing that Metanx, a prescription Vitamin B supplement, promotes significant increases in epidermal nerve fiber density and reduced paresthesia after six months of taking it daily. Has anyone tried and benefitted from taking Metanx? My neuro wasn’t familiar with it but when I explained it contains B6 she grew concerned. Apparently too much B6 causes neuropathy.

@danye1, Too much B6 does cause neuropathy so for me it's not going help. I had that concern when a Mayo neurologist mentioned it to me also. More than adequate research available on B6. It would be totally different if you were deficient in B6 or having issues absorbing it. Lot's of discussion on the B6 here:

Please provide any positive or negative feedback on Meganx. My doctor provided me some samples of Metanx. Has anyone tried it and if so what were side effects? I have only been taking a few days and seems to be causing some increased tingling sensations but since i am already experiencing this as part of my nerve issues not sure if this increase is my imagination? Seems like mostly good feedback on the product on Drugs.com so wanted to ask anyone out there experiences directly. Thanks for any feedback
I have been taking metanx since 2010. My PN symptoms have been manageable most of this time but has recently weakened my lower legs. I am not sure if metanx is working or not. My neurologist has told me not stop that it might worsen symptoms if I do. It is not cheap but worth trying in my opinion. I have not had any side effects. I am 77 years old and hoping to hang in there a little bit longer. Exercise like walking helps if you can do it. Regards
Thank you, yes I walk every day and still able to elliptical and do most anything just with added pain and this darn tingling everywhere I am new to this issue and symtoms only showed up about six months Afonso still trying to get any official diagnosis, all tests to date, and it is a lot, show nothing, heading off to a university for testing in a month or so. Otherwise healthy 62 year old
Metanx is simply a multivitamin containing all of the B vitamins (B1, B6, B12, etc.) You can get similar products anywhere so don't pay extra for a presciption version.
Are you a doctor?
My husband has pn from his feet to chest. After 4 years he has no real diagnosis. He has been to UCSF had so many blood tests, spinal tap and MRI. Anyone have similar story? He has had prednisone which helped for a while and infusions of remituxin but no change.
Learned synthetic Bs do not absorb or heal and cause blood tests to be high since they float in blood. So paying more for a natural B supplement in the correct levels like a neuropathy supplement is safest and more effective.
Did he have 3 MRIs of the complete spine? Also IVIG studies by Mayo and John Hopkins shows promise for calming anyibodies in body. Also try autoimmune diet and gut repair in case you have gut leakage which can cause inflammation on your system. I had candida in gut plus Cipro that started mine.
So that is some good information but need to make sure I understand what you are saying…are you saying metanx is good or that other products are better?
