Has anyone had the bilateral hip replacement at Mayo? I was born with congenital hip sockets and operated on at the age of 3 (1952) I am now 64 and have been more handicapped as the years go by. I have an appointment in June for a consultation with a surgeon and then hopefully, I can have the surgery in October. Any information would be helpful. George

Hi @geo49e. Here are some patient stories that may provide some insight on hip replacement surgery at Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/hip-replacement-surgery/care-at-mayo-clinic/patient-stories/prc-20019151. Hopefully this helps.

I haven\'t had hip problems but have other stuff. I wish you the very best
surgery and recovery. I hope you have a surgeon that you like. Best of luck!
My only advice is to make sure that the surgeon you select has done many, many such operations. Practice makes perfect and you don't want to be the trial dummy.
