Hello @tos and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I found an existing discussion where members are no longer taking Lyrica and discussing withdrawal, so you will notice I have moved your post here:

Have you been offered any recommendations from your doctor given all of the complications?

I do not know where you live but maybe you can find something similar to the Twin Cities Pain Clinic in MN - not all pain clinics are the same - but I have a pain patch that takes the edge off and I still use ice/heat/Tylenol.

Gabapentin is similar to Lyrica.

I have been put on gabapentine, because I couldn't afford Lyrica. It just doesn't work as well as Lyrica. I checked on Lyrics generic with my doctor when it came out in the summer. It is also very expensive through my insurance. I'm a senior. Does anyone know how to get Lyrics generic affordable??

Have you tried the Good RX app? It saves you a lot of money on meds.

I have successfully been prescribed brand Lyrica 150 x2 during day & brand Lyrica 200 x1 at night. I have been taking it since 2005; 18 years. Brand Lyrica is no longer available here. I tried pregabalin (generic)and had allergic reaction.
Prior to 2005 I had been prescribed gabapentin with very bad side effects. Cymbalta, too, was problematic and ineffectual. Can’t do CBD/marijuana.
How to mitigate withdrawal? What to substitute?

Ohhh I feel for because I have the same exact problem. I am allergic to so much of the prescribed medication. I have been on Tramadol for about 5 years not and I at least have a half a brain on it. Last summer mu doctor put me on oxycodone and I went over the edge. Very bad reaction to it. They gave me a muscle relaxer and I had a caesura from it.
Lots of luck to you.

I told my 'other' dr about this problem. He suggested looking to Canada for a prescription. Lo and behold Canada has this medication. They do not have generic!!
Regarding Tramadol; I was also taking Ultram when it suddenly disappeared. Pfizer started making vaccines and devoted all their efforts in that profit arena. They just quit making Ultram.
Years ago I had a bad reaction to Tramadol and didn't want to try it even now that Ultram was gone. But, now, I'm in a different state, receiving it through a different manufacturer with no reaction.
Before trying this my dr had me try Nucynta. It didn't work for me but it was not the knock out drug that Oxy is. That is how I ended up back on Tramadol.

Does lyrica cause weight gain vs gabapentin? I don’t know if I have secondary focal dystonia in the shoulder girdle after 3 cervical spine surgeries but by traps are frozen and I can’t use the computer. I don’t really know but my mobility is limited.
