Hello
I will be going to NJH in monday and looking forward to hearing what they have to say.
Question for those if you that have been there. Did medicare and supplement cover NJH? Is considered a second opinion?
Thanks for your help.
Miriam

If you went through intake and scheduling and gave them your insurance info, you should be fine. Believe me, if your insurance does not cover you, NJH will want a huge sum of money upfront, but will give you 59% discount on some awfully high rates.

I have private ins and have already met my deductible so hopefully this trip to NJH won't break the bank!

Medicare paid their portion and my secondary picked up the rest. Aside from my first visit in 2011 for which I paid $2000 up front, I've never paid for anything except the very expensive genetic testing (which was optional but I didn't understand that at the time. The testing did, however, show my Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency which is a protein produced in the liver that protects the lungs. My numbers aren't low enough to need infusions, but I know folks who do have to do that route. Without AAT, one is likely to have bronchiectasis or some form of COPD.) Sorry! This is far more than you asked about. Good luck with your visit. I've been going twice a year and have never had anything but exceptional care.

Hi, I went to NJH last October. I have Medicare and a supplemental insurance. I have not received any bills. Hope this helps.

Went to NJH for second opinion to treat MAC that was found on a bronchoscopy after l had had persistent cough for 3 years. The ID doctor would have put me on the 3 TB medications had l stopped her saying "l am going for second opinion to NJH"
at NJH they told me on the second of 10 days l was scheduled "you do not need to be treated at this point" ....the official criteria at that point were...2 positive cultures and evidence of bronchiectasis on CAT scan.
the only sputum that was positive was from local bronchoscopy. the NJH CAT showed no bronchiectasis . I still return to NJH for follow up...but so far no antibiotics indicated.
l have never paid a bill...l am on traditional medicare and a supplement.

Hello MSK,
I will be going to NJH on May 10 - 19th for my first visit. I’m also on Medicare with Regence Blue Cross as my secondary. I will be interested in knowing what insurance will cover and what they won’t cover.

Hope your visit is going well - I’ll be interested in knowing what all they did.

Respectfully,
Jorja
