@nosurgery

I've had 3 episodes of diverticlitis . The last being a microperforation, hospital, Cipro and Flagle. One surgeon said she would do surgery now. Got a second opinion, he said only do surgery after one more episode. I am complicated with having only one kidney. Wish I could talk to someone who had it done...

Hello @nosurgery

I can understand your concern about having surgery or not, since you have just the one kidney. I would like you to post the question you just asked to another discussion group about diverticulosis. Here is the link, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/diverticulosis/?orderby=DESC#chv4-comment-stream-header

This discussion group is larger and has more recent posts. There are a number of Members in that discussion group who discuss both surgical and non-surgical methods for dealing with diverticulitis. While I have personally had a number of episodes of diverticulitis I have never had any perforations, so I've not had surgery. Just meds and dietary changes.

Since you have the complication of one kidney have you considered getting another opinion at a multi-disciplinary medical center, like Mayo or a university medical school? (Mayo has clinics in Minnesota, Florida and Arizona). They might be a good place for you to visit.

In the meantime, please look at the link I provided above and feel free to post your question there or if you prefer you can "Reply" to any of the posts there or ask any questions of the people who have posted.

Will you let me know how you are doing with your decision making process?
