Pregabalin & Gabapentin Not Working.

Hi Myfeet. Sorry that nothing seems to be working for you. I can barely walk and have been distressed for 5 years. Stimulators have been around for a long time. Be very careful. Have you tried creams that have been compounded for neuropathy? They can provide some relief. It is very rare for someone to find something that eliminates all or most of the pain. Keep us up to date on your decision and how it turns out. Good luck.

I would ask the doctor for a different type of seizure medicine. I’ve had great success with Tegretol (carbamazepine). You can see my story here if you search. Won’t hurt to try!

I was diagnosed with (idopathic) peripheral neuropathy 18 years ago. I would truly LOVE to give you a positive report with possible solutions, but I have not found any to date. I, initially was prescribed Gabapentin. It did NOT help, but I was urged to stick with it, because it might take time. I stuck with it for at least 3 years, without better results. My insurance would not approve Lyrica. After about 3 years, I developed mild hives. At that point, insurance approved Lyrica. Lyrica did not provide any improvement. Without any results/improvements, I discontinued Lyrica (saved $$). PN has become more painful. At this point, the pain and burning sensation is constant. Nothing makes any improvement at all. I was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Cancer (primary, small intestine, with mets to liver, pancreas & lymph) in August 2022. The PN causes more pain/discomfort than the cancer. I hope you will find a solution.

I’ve tried maximum amount of Gabapentine, Lyrica and both together. Thinking it’s time to wean these and try something else.

5% lidocaine patches have helped much more than gabapentin in controlling the nerve pain in my feet at night. I also avoid the systemic exposure to gabapentin and the side effects. The patches were prescribed by a podiatrist. To promote absorption of the lidocaine, I place the patches on the tops of my feet where the skin is thinner.

What kind ru looking at? I’m considering having this done also. Keep talking to the Boston Scientific rep and asking questions. Would love to talk to people that have had it done.

yes I stopped gapapentin a year or so ago its not the miracle drug they thought is was pregablin think it really is not helping either I just got a grounding matt try that have pressure points done

I agree! I’m trying the 5% lidocaine patches and 5% Numb Master cream tonight

How do you go about getting a compounding cream made? What type of doctor??
