Anyone on Pluvicto (Lu 177), a new drug for prostate cancer?

My close friend has had Pluvecto treatment suggested to him by oncologists. It is relatively new, having been approved by the FDA in March 2022. Have any of you been given this drug? I have read it is radioactive material and patient needs to stay away 6 ft from others for at least 3 days so as not to contaminate them. He has not yet decided whether to take the treatment or not as he is feeling awful enough as is.

My dad has had 1 treatment so far. He was in bad shape going into it- the cancer is all in his lymph nodes which are extremely swollen on his neck. He does have some Mets in his bones but those don’t seem to bother him too much. His biggest issue is hydration and nutrition. The last round of chemo he had destroyed his gut. He has lost 70+ lbs in 6 months and struggles everyday to keep down any food and drink. As far as the pluvicto side effects, the only new symptom that came on was diarrhea. It’s heartbreaking to watch. Has anyone experienced a significant improvement in quality of life from plucivto? He desperately wants to see his grandchildren graduate in June but watching him suffer so much is hard. He doesn’t want to
Give up and I’m praying for a miracle

So far, Pluvicto has only some positive effect after 4 treatments.

I have heard that Pluvicto now in rare supply these days as government taking away approval due to what it considers to be faults. From what I hear it works so if I were a stage 4 prostate patient I would want this option.

I have heard that Pluvicto now in rare supply these days as government taking away approval due to what it considers to be faults. From what I hear it works so if I were a stage 4 prostate patient I would want this option.

This kinda sucks for those guys who need Pluvicto. I'm not at that point yet. Hopefully Novartis can get approval to start manufacturing in the US very soon. We need as many options as possible.

I hope so and not happy that government is calling the shots on this. I know people with stage IV whose lives may be saved by this drug. It is their last hope for now. I haven't heard of any other options of late, have you?

I'm relatively new to the PC world. Diagnosed in January. I haven't heard of anything comparable to Pluvicto but there are lots of trials going on. I use an App called "Belong" that's also very helpful and supportive like this Mayo board. They have moderators that chime in on conversations and I had one moderator take the details of my PC. She came back the next day with a list of 10 trials and links to the details of each trial. I'm hesitant to do a trial because I don't want to waste my precious time if they stick me with a placebo as part of a control group. Hopefully some of these trials will work out and get FDA approval. Maybe one of them will bee three ultimate cure for us!!! 😁

He was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer a little over 4 years ago. He has had several rounds of chemo and radiation. Given his treatment history and disease status the docs thought Pluvicto could keep it from progressing for a while (hopefully through the 6 cycles?). We were very happy for him to be able to try it. The docs aren't sure the pain is related to treatment but given that it started right after treatment, they think it might be so I was curious to find out if any other men have experienced prolonged pain after treatment. Given that it is relatively new, I think they are still learning about it.

My husband has stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer too, and received his 1st Pluvicto treatment last Tuesday. He has been in extreme pain in his leg(shin) and hip (where he had a hip replacement about a 3 years ago.) We know he has some cancer in his bone in the hip but not sure about the shin. He has had an terrible headache off and on throughout the days. Anyone have any similar side effects and what are you using to help with them?

I just got my first Pluvicto treatment this past Friday. I have been in stage 4 since 2014. Here's a brief story on my journey. I was diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate cancer at the age of 52, the fall of 2013. My Gleason score was a 9 and my PSA was around 10. I had my surgery to remove my prostate May of 2014. My PSA fell 2 after that. I have bone mets on my spine in the center of my back and neck. The Xgeva shots have worked and the muscle has grown around the fractures and the bones have stabilized. Nothing has spread any further. I have received in this order, Radiation from having my prostate removed, Taxotere chemotherapy, Zytiga and Prednisone, remission for up to almost 4 years, then Xtandi, followed by 13 rounds of Jevtana which just ended this February. March 17 was my first Pluvicto infusion. Through the whole process I have had minimal side effects, the worst being fatigued.

I am glad you are doing well and hope the Pluvicto does great things for you. May I ask where you are getting treatment? I am considering Pluvicto but hear it is difficult to get.

Question were u able to work during all this time? I’m 47 recently diagnosed with stage IV metastatic PC…
