Dad at 61, discovered to have 2cm localized at the head of pancreas

How do you feel now? My dad will have surgery this coming Monday. Based on previous test, it is caught in very early stage. He did blood test last year around July and there were no tumor markers found, so it is probably like after that.
My dad said if he didn't do blood test in February, maybe if they did in June, it would probably be too late.

I am more afraid of tumor/cancer recurrence. We might not have the same luck as before to get it on time.

Your dad will be under close observation with a good team in place to do the monitoring after surgery. My initial cancer was a breast cancer. During the follow up my tumor markers became elevated. An ovarian cancer was caught at a very early stage and I was diagnosed with BRCA mutation. I did very well and then most recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the head of the pancreas, inoperable but might become operable with chemotherapy. Multiple family members have this gene. Now they know about their increased risk for pancreatic and can have appropriate screening tests.

I have now met many people who have had the whipple surgery as far back as 10 years plus! It was curative for them. Everyone’s case is different, but be joyous that it was found early. All surgery in the GI area will require some recuperation time and possibly a diet change, but a small price to pay! One help I might offer is to try to have your Dad as healthy as possible prior to the surgery. Good muscle tone, and healthy diet. ESP. Enough protein ( not just from red meat!). My wife had exactly the same. Had Whipple. Cancer free for 3 years
Passed away last July, 7 years later.
Love a happy 7 years. Tell Dad a great positive attitude is important.

I was diagnosed last October with the same thing. A 2 cm tumor. Head of the pancreas. I’ve been through eight rounds of chemo and I’m doing OK. After 12 rounds they’re going to do three weeks of radiation and then the Whipple procedure. Tough hill to climb, but with the love and support of my friends and family, I find strength.

I am sorry about your wife. Did she passed away because of pancreas or it was something else? How old she was?

How do you feel now? Did you had any symptoms before?

The the original pancreatic tumor madastisized on her lung
Small and kept stable with chemo /sbrt radiation but eventually kept spreading over her lungs . Chemo stopped working and we came home. Lasted 4 months until she passed in July
75 years young.

I was jaundiced and had dark urine, so after waiting to get in for tests I went ahead and went to the ER and they ran everything and found the tumor. And it was quite a shock because I was thinking something was wrong with my liver.
Now I just have chemo symptoms, peripheral neuropathy, my hands, legs, mouth, nose, and eyes. Nausea and diarrhea.
