Diagnosed with renal masses on both kidneys, how long do I wait?

Having renal masses can be a great source of anxiety for you, no doubt. I am curious what your doctors may have told you about these masses. What are they? What is their plan to follow or address them? You mention you have additional urinary tract issues. Might the masses be related to those?

After months of discomfort I had ct scan. Both kidneys with mass identified as cancer and left adrenal gland lesion which was not identified as cancer.
Enlarged prostate and bladder wall thickening. No lesions in bladder.
I had a rough last two weeks with pain nausea and appetite.
They did urinalysis and no infection but positive for protein and lukocyte which was not present in December.
I just don't feel comfortable waiting.

@leeb123 Then don't wait. You need to know answers about what type of cancer, treatment options, plans you need to make now, etc. I am very hopeful that your doctor will understand your request to advance the appointments to sooner than later! Be prepared to look into getting a second opinion if you feel the need to.

I mentioned this several times before, but maybe it may be worth repeating. My suspected cancerous kidney small mass was discovered by my urologist in a routine checkup. He hooked me "immediately" up with a conventional radiologist who did tests for cancer. It was indeed cancerous, and a few weeks later performed cryoablation on my right kidney, meaning that he froze the cancerous mass so that it would later dissolve. The procedure was done as an outpatient at my local hospital, and it was painless. Five years later after annual MRIs, I continued to be kidney cancer free, and have no longer been tested. In addition, the success rate for this procedure is high. With any disease of significant concern, always side on caution and be proactive.

Sorry, I should have said "interventional" radiologist, not "conventional".

Thanks and I did get my CT scan moved up by a month.

I am in a similar situation and hoping to have cryoablation to the mass in my left kidney. I’ve had pet scan, ct and mri. No definite determination that the mass is cancer. I have an appointment in 2weeks with an oncology urologist. I’m worried about waiting. Twenty + years ago I had breast cancer and 5 years later cancer in the other breast. Both times I found the lumps myself and saw a doctor immediately. Should I try to get a sooner appointment?

I would try for earlier appointment.
Between begging insurance and providers for sooner dates is challenging, I figure, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I try to be proactive when it comes to healthcare. It relieves the stress of not knowing. If you are able to make an earlier appointment, then please do. My cryoablation was determined by the radiologist 15 years ago. There may be other alternatives by other specialists. With the 3 tests, I am surprised the docs could not give you an answer. A biopsy may be the next step. I wish you the best for a quick determination.

Thank you for the information. I have an appointment with a urology oncologist. I have been told the next step will be a biopsy once the treatment method is determined.
