I feel like I'm dying
i am a healthy (I thought) 43 year old female. 2 weeks ago I was at work. Stood up. Got this pulled muscle sensation in my back around my bra strap area. I then proceeded to have chest pain, shortness of breath, flushed, sensation of hot liquid seeping out into my chest, dizziness, and numb and tingly all over my body. I felt like I was gonna pass out or die. I was rushed to the ER. After several tests, and an overnight stay, they discharged me the next day with Synthroid (thyroid just a tad low) and Flexeril for my back pain. I still had the shortness of breath. But they assured me my heart and lungs were fine. Did not do any x-rays or anything for my back. The next day I was pretty much laid out at home due to the flexeril. The following day, I decided to go back to work. Got up, took a shower, then I started having all the same symptoms as before. I had my son take me to the ER again. They did several tests, said my heart and lungs were fine. The doctor diagnosed me with GERD, and sent me home with Prilosec. I took Prilosec for 4 days, then my PCP had me try Protonix, which by the way, both of these gave me horrible side effects (confusion, delirium-hallucinations) and were not helping my stomach pain and nausea. So, she started me on Zantac, which worked wonders the first couple of days, but seems to have worn off now too. Also, after numerous testing, doctor said my Vitamin D was low, was 11, and should be between 30-80. So I started taking Vitamin D3--400 units. 2 weeks later, I have been to the ER three times, had an endoscopy just yesterday (doctor said everything looked fine, but sending off stomach sample for biopsy). Still taking Zantac, and Vitamin D. Trying to eat more foods rich in Vitamin D and calcium. I continue to have nausea, stomach pains, body very weak, losing weight, diarrhea, dizziness, flushed and feel like passing out. I can't sleep, and feel very dehydrated. Every morning I feel like I'm dying with these symptoms. It feels as though it hurts from deep inside my muscles or bones, even my joints in my fingers and elbows hurt. Closer to noon, I feel a little better, try to eat a little something, then it starts all over around 9 or 10 in the evening, and keeping me up all night. I WAS TOTALLY FINE UNTIL 2 WEEKS AGO, THEN ALL THIS STARTED HAPPENING. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE? I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I FEEL LIKE I'M JUST GONNA SHRIVEL UP AND DIE.

I have had these same symptoms with no diagnosis. Is scary and frustrating. What is it?
PLEASE TELL ME THIS, did you eat any McDonald’s, fast food or anything else you might believe may have possibly been contained or improperly stored?? Leading to a bacterial issue? I’m having all the same symptoms and never eat fast food but on a whim I bought myself dinner from McDonald’s 1 late night and haven’t felt better since I woke up the very next morning. It’s been weeks and I haven’t visited a doctor or er since I’d rather not possibly be exposed to covid as I’m unvaccinated and have a chronic lung disease.
I believe my C. Diff. came from some Chinese food in early November. I could tell it was not fully cooked and with the restaurant situation not having enough staff, I wonder how careful they are after they use the bathroom. I have IBS so I didn't do anything about the loose stools until January when I started having really loose sickening sweet smelly diarrhea, abdominal cramping and dissented abdomen. My GI sent me for a stool test and it came back positive for C. Diff. Toxin A and presumed negative for NAP 027. (They did the PCR type and also tested for a bunch of other parasites and bacteria.) I've been on 4 courses of antibiotics starting with Flagyl which did nothing to help, then 2 - 14 day courses of Vancomycin, which also did nothing to help. Finally he ordered Dificid and Cholestryamine. Still having loose stools, but I just tested again on March 17 and test was negative for C. Diff., but they didn't do the PCR (cluture) test. They did the EIA (Enzyme immunoassaynjyme) quick test which isn't as sensitive as the PCR. Maybe it will just take a while for my colon to return to normal. I see my GI doc on April 7 and I'm going to ask him to do another stool test with the PCR method. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't come back. Prayers for you.
I first had a similar burning feeling 16 years ago which led to me getting Burning Mouth Syndrome. Now it’s back and I can’t seem to get a handle on it. So I’m following your story very closely.
@p95 - Probiotics help. You need one with over 30 billion in strains though …
Sorry that you are having a hard time. I would go to see a good doctor before trying a lot of possibilities with OTC drugs. They may adversely affect your body and are not as strong as a doctor may prescribe. Using such chance aids could cause damage to your body.
Hello, my name is Ally, I know your post is old, but I'm having all these issues right now, I have lupus and a heart murmur, but can't figure out if they're what's causing the issues. Today my bones hurt and I feel physically weak in them.
I have no idea what doctor I should see or anything, how did everything go for you, is this something I should be worried about or should I just wait a few weeks for it to pass and move on/forget it?
(The only difference I see in your post and me is the fact that I've never been able to breathe properly growing up, I'm 18 now, but still can't. I don't lose my breath or anything, but I've only ever been able to take light breaths and basically hold them until I can't, I have no rhythm and even simple breathing exercises hurt. I can't do deep breaths , they get stuck and my heart pinches and feels stuck.)
All the doctors I've told this to just blow it off and/or say that I just didn't learn to breathe properly??
But I KNOW how, I just physically can't.)
I'm afraid I'm going to go in and they're just going to say it's anxiety &panic attacks again. But they're NOT I know the difference between when I'm having them and this.😓
Did they ever figure out what you were struggling with?
I know what you are going through I have your acid reflux ulcer plus anxiety Plus panic attack and depression and I feel like I'm dying I have all this stuff I'm on all this medicine that they gave me and it's like nothing's working like my chest feel like I have heart problems but I don't have heart problems my blood pressure go up I don't have blood pressure but I have a nail because the anxiety caused my blood pressure to go up you know it I'm just going through so much and it's like I can't sleep or none of that you know so I do know what you going through cuz I'm going through the same thing and I feel like something else is wrong with me like I'm about to die but it's like I'm having anxiety attack or panic attack and I just now start having this like last month you know I was probably a stress and depressed and all that you know my dad passed away July 1st 2020 my sister passed away December the 17th 2021 and last but not least my mother passed away December the 8th 2022 and I I'm going through it you know I'm going through it but I hate going through this stuff cuz I don't know what's going on they seeing this and his daddy I just hate the way I feel everyday I can't go to work I get an attitude I get fired from my jobs so I pretty much know what you going through and I hope everything gets better with you sweetie sorry so long
I agree with you argintviu. After three endoscopies and prescription meds that are only a bandaid that doesn’t last, I turned to functional medicine. The testing done goes far beyond what any doctor did for me. The causes of my issues were a bacteria, a fungus, yeast and mold. You can find functional medicine doctors at
ifm.org by city and state. It’s expensive but so worth it.
Have they tested your thyroid? TSH, T3, T4
that can cause a variety of symptoms @triingtochange2023
