@kittyrushing: I have experienced this type of tinnitus, exactly matching my heartbeat. I suffer from severe anxiety and depression, and take medication for these conditions. I tried all kinds of medication and got many tests done, but the sound continued. Then, about a year ago, I took pregabalin to control my anxiety. What happened was very unexpected. In addition to a reduction in my anxiety, the sound in my ears also stopped. And has remained stopped. I don't know if this would help you. All the best.

Yes I agree with @shieldandguide, you should def rule out AVM and DAVF. This is typically done by cerebral angiogram. I went thru this process...ENT suggested I had anxiety and depression. Not the case, in fact I’m going for my 2nd angio on Monday to check everything out because pulsatile tinnitus is back after procedure a year ago. I was diagnosed with DAVF.

Hello all, Just found this site and will give it a try. Has anyone in this group ever experienced intermittent. rapid, loud thumps heard in their head? I can't differentiate if it is my head or my ears that is perceiving it. I have no medical history that would cause this annoying symptom, my heart and lungs are very healthy. I have no disease but moderate arthritis. Please do share...... Thank you!

Who did your angiogram. . . a neurologist, an otolaryngologist, a cardiologist?? Thank you for your help.
A neurosurgeon, the ENT referred me.
