My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, she had a successful lumpectomy. Some time later, the breast cancer came back. This time she opted to just have her breast removed, at which time she was encouraged to do radiation and was told it would heighten her chances of the breast cancer not returning. Nevertheless, they neglected to inform her of the risk of having this radiation. After being in remission for some time, out of nowhere she fractured her rib. After further testing, she was diagnosed with Angiosarcoma. This time, she had to go through 3 months of chemotherapy and a more aggressive round of radiation. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to her liver, lungs, kidneys, and bones. She lost her battle just 3 months after her chemo/radiation treatments. What's puzzling to me, is that if Angiosarcoma is rare, and they know that radiation causes this form of cancer, why would more radiation be a treatment option. I believe that in my mom's case, the cancer began to spread either the moment she started chemotherapy, or the moment she went through the round of radiation after the chemotherapy. Either way, I don't believe chemotherapy or radiation is a great treatment option to fight Angiosarcoma. I pray that you will be presented with more treatment options, and that in your case the outcome will be victorious, so that other patients will be inspired to follow the path that you take in order to win their battle!
