It sounds like I have the same thing going on. Feels as if there’s water in my ears and someone is constantly (fast and sporadic) tapping my head. Like a small popping constantly in my right ear. It does not match my heart at all and is not rhythmic. I can’t find any relief. Any suggestions for at home relief anyone??
@gregk have you seen a Ear Dr. I have tinnitus that constantly buzzes ,sometimes it rings nothing can be done I was just at my ENT If it continues I would make an appointment to see Dr.
I've had this thumping in my right ear for two months and it's more profound when I'm trying to fall asleep. I was checked by my doctor but no results until the day 3 months later, I felt a heartburn coming on and my shoulder started to feel heavy. Yes, I was having a mild heart attack and immediately sought assistance where I spent two days in the hospital undergoing tests and was told a triple bypass was required. Long story short, it became a quadruple bypass that went successfully and the thumping went away. This was 7 months ago. Hopefully this was not the case for you members asking this question but, it's important to not rule out blood vessel blockage either. Have or insist on an EKG test as well. Most importantly, ditch the cigarettes.
Hi @gerardcame, Welcome to Connect, an online community where you can share your experiences and find support from other patients. I moved this discussion to the Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat group to connect you with other members.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed the same thing in my right ear. I hear it more when I just wake up. It’s isolated in my right ear. It’s not rhythmic, more sporadic and fast so it’s not linked to my pulse. When I fully plug my ear it goes away, maybe because of the pressure.
I experience the exact same thing in my right ear also. And, yes, plugging the ear stops the thumping.
A few weeks ago I had impacted wax removed from this ear; I wonder if that somehow triggered this thumping.
I myself started feeling a thumping sound in my right ear and the thumping varies as far as rythm, feels like I feel it more at bed time or when I’m trying to relax, it’s very annoying. It comes and goes I also had a sinus infection but this thumping started maybe about 6 months ago, the antibiotics helped with the sinus infection but not the thumping. Worried it can be a tumor.

@lioness I have to be referred to one by my primary care Doctor and she didn’t think it was a big deal, she felt as if it’s something that will go away.
Hi, I have same problem with my right ear since last week. It get worse at night and when I lay down. I sow ENT , no ear /hearing problem, and he prescribed Prednisone and Zpac, for sinuses. I am finishing tomorrow but do not noticing too much improvement.Still have to use decongestant to get rid of drumming. Is it possible this problem come from neck? Should I see chiropractor?
I have a rapid thumping in my right ear (not related to the heartbeat) that is likened to that of an engine that has a miss or to that of a roughed grouse drumming its wings on a log. It is not constant but it is triggered when I sneeze, yawn deeply, when I lie down and when I'm under stress. It can last from 5 minutes to and hour. I've seen a chiropractor for an upper cervical subluxation (caused by banging my head in a car accident). I've had Craniosacral therapy (CTS), I've seen an ENT specialist and I've seen numerous family practitioners. I had a heart stent put in for a blocked artery. I've been told that the cause of my condition could be from an insufficient blood blow due to a head/neck injury or from a cardiovascular problem. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?
