Posted by johnson5 @johnson5, Feb 23, 2023

Does anyone have any tips on how to calm themselves. I am on Effexor and lorazepam. Lost my husband spend most time by myself and continue with panic attacks. I have had ect treatments but. Don’t think I am going to get through this .

Hi my name is kay, you are not alone and even though it feels like you won’t make it, you will. However with that said, you really need to push yourself into moving forward (atleast I did) I do not know your condition but I found just getting outside in the sun to take a stroll as often as possible helped me along with online apps for self healing, meditation. I don’t like doing anything by myself so it was hard at first but each day was a little better less loney, that was years ago I’ve since remarried and moved on. You can do it, so I wish you well now please get moving! 😊

Dear friend,
first I would like to express my condolences and say that I feel your pain and that I am thinking about you and that I am truly sorry. I can imagine how difficult and sad it must be. And lonely.
I think that more than anything else, more than medicines, more than words, the one and only thing that really helps is being around people, talking with others, and not feeling so alone. That is, I have found out (but that is for me, I cannot say if you are going to feel the same way), the only thing that really can bring some comfort, some company, some serenity, and some distraction from the huge pain and suffering you are going through. If you need someone to talk to, please let me know and I'll send you a private message with my email address and/or my cell phone no.
In the meantime, I wish you the very best and I send you a big hug,

Lina

I am so sorry to both of you for your loss of your loved ones. Thank you for your kinds words.
I too have struggled with the loss of my father who died 5 years ago from stage 4 bladder cancer. Spending time with my family , especially my grand children has helped me get through this difficult time.

Thank you.
How would you know that I have lost people and companions SO very dear to me? Yes, I lost both my dad, 4 years ago, my sister, 3 years ago, and my oldest cat 🙀, Harald, 1 year and 5 months ago. Harald was a stray who had had such a tough life and who became the closest to a soulmate that'll ever get. He died at 5:15 pm., on Sept. 30th ...

It is not true that time is a gentleman and that it heals every wound. It really does not. But good friends, good people, and a good cause might help to heal.

Thank you again. I am sorry you lost your dad after such a bad disease.

A big hug 🤗 to you.

Unfortunately, anxiety and panic attacks kind of come with the territory when you lose someone special. You can try meditation - YouTube offers several guided meditations that are helpful. Insomnia can be a problem, too, with thoughts ruminating through your mind. I have found that guided meditation for sleep has helped me tremendously. Also check with your doctor to see if any medications can help. I have a prescription to take when I have a panic attack if I try breathing through it and it doesn't work.
