Tymlos vs Prolia

Tymlos is an anabolic: it builds bone with little or no effect on bone turnover, so it is quality bone. Forteo is also an anabolic.

Prolia is an anti-resorptive, meaning it affects bone turnover, reducing the rate of bone break down. Reclast and other bisphosphonates are also anti-resorptive.

Evenity is both bone-building and an anti-resorptive, though anti-resorptive to a lesser degree than Prolia and Reclast.

So Tymlos and Prolia are entirely different. My doc says it is much better to start with Tymlos, if your bone density is significantly low, not only because it builds bone but I have been told that it is more effective if you have not taken Prolia or a bisphosphonate.

Tymlos has an adjustable dose, using the pen, and to avoid side effects, I started with a low dose and moved up. But many don't have side effects. YOu can discuss that with your doctor.

Very interesting comment. Thank you.
Does anyone know if bone can continue to grow ( with Tymlos or other drugs) after taking Fosamax for 5 years (2007 to 2012) ?
I was just prescribed Tymlos by my GP and am not eager to start.
Thank you
