Yes. Omeprazole and its brand version, Prilosec. These two drugs can also cause Chronic Kidney Disease (or renal failure, since most people don't know they have CKD until something goes really wrong). I have had both effects from omeprazole. I have found that some doctors know these side effects and caution to take a PPI short-term, and others have no clue. I would think the least one should do if on this med is to check kidney function and bone density on a regular basis (btw my CKD resolved after stopping omeprazole.
