Repeat urinary tract infections: What can I do?

Hi, I'm a retired teacher as well, and have a history of recurrent UTI's. I got into trouble when twice the infection went to my kidneys, and hospitalized. I still have trouble with the recurrent UTI's going to my kidneys. My back pain was bad enough I couldn't always tell I had a UTI. Anyway! After 6 years, I was put in touch with a urologist. And he's prescribed Premarin .625 mg to be rubbed 2x/week into the urethra at night, cranberry capsules daily, and a health food supplement called D-Mannose, one level tsp in water daily. Plus he's going to do a cystoscopy in a month. It's a lot! But it's actually working, and I haven't been to Emergency in several months, touch wood. (I have to go right away because it gets to my kidneys so quickly.) At this point, I think I'm just plain lucky to not have had one for a few months! Does this help at all? (I don't have fibromyalgia, but I was just diagnosed out of a clear blue sky with heart failure.)

Same issue my urologist said cranberry tabs and my nurse said d
Mannose which I only take the latter as needed. Didn’t know they made it in powder. Good luck sounds like it is working for you.
