@scardycat After years of worsening pain, I recently got an injection into my hand. I cannot recall the medication at the moment, but it is approved for this condition. My pain is less but still there, and I still feel a lot of pressure when I try to open my left hand all the way. Surgery is the next step if the injection does not give me enough relief.

@scardycat, the injection IS painful, but that pain gets better. My hand overall is less painful now than it was. There is a solution, and that is surgery to go in and cut the tendon. My guess is that I will still need the surgery since the tendon appears to have shortened more since the injection. But at least I am not in constant pain with it at this point. Stay strong.

My husband had the injection for his Dupuytren's contracture around 4 years ago. He went to the orthopedist when his fingers began to and intrfere with daily activities. The orthopedic surgeon recommended hand surgery, but my husband wanted a second opinion. He went to a hand surgeon who recommended the injection. It has worked well for him.
He never had pain with his contracture, just locking fingers in one hand and a hard ridge along the tendon line in hand.
