PV and atrial fibrillation
Is it safe for people with PV being treated with baby aspirin and Hydrea to be put on oral anticoagulants for atrial fibrillation?

ty so much for your replay, i am 68, i have an appointment next friday, i am going, i was told not to take blood thinner for five days, i hope for the best, it is difficult to make a choice, take care..
I was just diagnosed with afib a second time in about 2 years. My hematologist actually caught it during a follow up visit for PV. Both he and my cardiologist agree with the use of Eloquis along with Hydrea and aspirin. I trust they know what they are doing.
Hi DHCarter,
I was getting episodes very lightheaded feeling, feeling lousy, heart beating abnormally. About five years ago I was sent to a cardiologist for a different reason and happened to be in AFIb at the time. So I was put on Eliquis.
Some people do not know when they are in AFib. I happen to know when I am I can feel it. I was given 25 mg Metoprolol Tartrate, as a pill in the pocket, to take when my heart starts this, It is low dose, fast acting and short living. Within two hours it stops. I am 78 so I just relax until it slows down,
My primary had been watching my platelets rise over several years but because I was on Eliquis he just watched them. When they went to 621 he referred me to a hematologist. After labs and bone marrow biopsy I was diagnosed with ET JAK2. I am struggling with Hydroxyurea and headaches.
Point of telling all this….she told me I did not have to take aspirin because I was on a blood thinner. I am curious what other doctors think.
Very best wishes on your journey, Eileen
