Hello and welcome to the new people in the group and so nice have some supporters (husbands) joining us! As a reintroduction of myself, I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer June 2020 at the age of 54, breast tumour, lymph nodes and Mets to femur, both hips, spine, sternum and one rib. I started on Ribociclib and Anastrozole, with XGeva injections monthly. All worked great 19 months, no evidence of disease but then it came back. Switched to Afinitor and Exemastane, had breathing issues so had to stop that, went to Xeloda, manageable side effects but after 6 months the cancer had progressed. I am now 4 treatments in to a new med not yet on the market (on a clinical Trial) that after two treatments already showed a decrease in the cancer!!! Dato-Dxd for short, but doctors ave very optimistic about this treatment for patients like us who have already tried a few other options. Side effects with any drug can be challenging, including this one I am on, I encourage all of you to take the meds they provide for relief regularly to help. The mental aspect we are all facing, there is no pill for that and I also find it hard to stay positive for family and friends etc. But - new medications are coming out regularly and each one getting better!!! Keep hope for that and do your best to live your best life every day you can!!! You are all so brave - the husbands also- to go through this journey and be strong enough to reach out to chats like this to openly share your thoughts!!! Hang in there fellow warriors!!! 😘

I had breast cancer 10 years ago, had surgery and radiation, has not come back--------now I have it in
the right breast stage 2, had surgery, and going to start proton radiation, Has anyone had proton if so
what are the side effects? also after reading a lot of everyone's comments I don't see where anyone is on
Tamoxifen. I am to take it after the radiation. I have decided not to take it after reading about it. I am 81.
going to do nothing, just like what I did 10 years ago.

colleenyoung, I never have taken Tamoxifen, my choice not to take it. I have had
close family that took it and after they were done in 5 years, she got brain cancer and
passed away. the other person got breast cancer again. what I have read on here I don't want to try it, I thought about it for many weeks and after radiation, I decided not to. I am going to
be 82 I rather have a quality of life. I am being checked every 6 months.
Proton was a very nice experience nothing but good things about it.
Thank you for the information to look up on the pill and breast cancer.

Has anyone with mbc which is in my spine, pelvis and femur have the cancer spread to your ribs?

Hi @kimlockwood, I believe you are looking to connect with members whose metastatic breast cancer continues to spread. Here is where you were connecting with other MBC-ers like @susane1121 @catlady7 @cynthia09 @mglinkhart @lisakinpa @jbp @sam2020

Kim, it sounds like you've recently learned that the cancer has spread to your ribs. That is hard news to learn it found a new place to install itself. How was this discovered? Do you have pain? How are you doing emotionally with this news?

I had feeling sharp pains on my rib cage. Different areas of the ribs. At first I ignored it until the sharp pain woke me from a sound sleep. Still feeling numb.

Hey, @kimlockwood.... is there bone swelling associated with the cancer spreading to your rib? (I haven't had pain, but one of my ribs is distinctly bigger now than it used to be. I'm aware of this because of my doing manual lymph drainage for lymphedema over the last nine months.)

Hi, at this time I don't have any swelling. I also have lymphedema in my right arm. Good luck to you.

I was on Tamoxifen for 8 years following surgery, chemo and radiation. 6 months after stopping tamoxifen my cancer returned as stage 4 Mets to bone, lymph and liver. I did not have any negative side effects from the Tamoxifen and believe it kept my cancer from progressing sooner.
