PMR painful skin on arms and legs
I have been on prednisone 10 months. Started at 20 now down to 6.
Having a few flareups, however, the skin on my arms and legs so painful to the touch even running water from the shower.
Will skin return to normal when I’m finally off this medication?
What cream or ointment would help this condition? Arnicare works well fading the bruises!

@leleettetou, I haven't had sensitive to the touch skin on my arms or legs when my PMR was active. It's something I would definitely discuss with my doctor or pharmacist. There are conditions that mimic PMR and one is Fibromyalgia which I think can have a similar symptom as you describe.

If your scalp or temple area on the head are sensitive also, I would contact your doctor right away. My doctor was always watching for symptoms of Giant Cell Arteritis along with my PMR and scalp and temple sensitive along with vision problems can be symptoms of GCA.
My skin on my arms is very sensitive and friable. I wear support knee highs with the feet cut out to protect them. Otherwise, I can easily just peel the flesh off with a bump. Yuck! Yesterday, I had my PT session with the Cancer care people to keep my remaining lymphnodes functioning and now I have hematomas covering my upper arm. The therapist wasn't rougher with me than usual, I'm just too sensitive. Prednasone is not for sissies.
