I did join a blog for people with stoma’s and not quite the panacea the gi painted. Seems many negatives and possible complications. I do have an apt with a surgeon on the 28 who, by his reviews, sounds absolutely awesome. I don’t think he’ll recommend this if he doesn’t think it’s right for me. If not, maybe he’ll have other suggestions or knows of a better dr for me to work with.
Hi, if it works for you I will buy it tomorrow. Thanks!
Thank you for your reply.
I am in total agreement with you. I think the only way the doctors are going to change is if they suffer this themselves. Otherwise they all go through the same protocol for every patient. NONE of it worked on a long term basis for me or it created a new problem, such as diahrea. Thank you for the well wishes and I pray it continues to work for me because it is a drastic positive change in my life and I hope it works for you also! Jacque

2 ReactionsOh I hope it does.
I started with the mini tabs and I took 4 every evening at 7:30pm.
I decided to try the Maximum Strength Prunelax and am now taking 2 1/2 tablets (pills) every evening at 7:30pm. I use a pill splitter to create the half and this results in just a small increase in the dosage from the mini tabs. It gives me 312 mg. This works for me but you can experiment. I need this dosage to keep me regular everyday. I have a slow transit time due to the size of my long, tortuous intestine. And because of this slow transit time I've suffered the constipation all my life and the doctors just prescribe Miralax, etc. And that made me even more miserable with bloating etc. It is no laughing matter and it is wonderful to keep yourself regular. I wish you the very best! Jacque
I also use Prunelax, someone else recommended it on here awhile back and it works for me.
Just started seeing a new gi, a Motility Specialist. As I’ve tried and failed every constipation med out there, he wants me to try something different, Bethanechol. It’s normally prescribed for urinary retention but can be used to help with slow gi motility as it “squeezes” the gi tract. Starting slow, 5 mg 3 times a day, as lately I seem to be overreacting to meds. Will let you know how it goes. I’m cautiously optimistic about this doc and his nurse. So far, very responsive and accessible to my calls. And they seem to actually “listen”.

2 ReactionsRegarding Prunelax, this is basically a laxative similar to Senokot. The ingredients are listed below with this statement: Contains prune extract for flavoring. Just FYI, since it doesn't contain enough prunes to do anything for constipation. I found out I have a redundant colon after a colonoscopy. Just recently I began having constipation issues, possibly as a side effect of medications. I take 4 oz of prune juice in the morning, and a dose of Miralax every day and this is helping me. Prunelax Medicinal ingredient: Each tablet contains Senna leaf extract (Cassia angustifolia) 75 mg. Non-medicinal ingredients: Croscarmellose sodium, Sodium lauryl sulfate, Magnesium stearate, Carmine, Silicon dioxide, Microcrystalline cellulose, Plum Flavor, FD&C Blue N°2 Aluminum Lake, Talc, Polyvinyl alcohol, Titanium dioxide, Macrogol. This product does not contain mercury. Contains prune extract for flavoring.

1 ReactionSenna is also the ingredient in Traditional Medicinals "Smooth Move" herbal tea, also sold at WalMart.
It worked so effectively for me that I developed hyponatremia because of electrolyte imbalance. Until then, it was truly glorious finally emptying my colon - less back pain and no longer feeling like there was a brick in my belly.!
Thanks I will give it a try. My problem I try something and it works then my body seems to get use to it and it quits. Looking forward to giving it a try.
