Medicare: What Supplement helps cover treatment costs?

Posted by carlosp1970 @carlosp1970, Feb 3, 2023

My husband is 53 on disability for 2 years and now is offered Medicare. I need to find a good supplement to cover his treatments that Medicare doesn’t cover.. Any suggestions. Any information appreciated

I just went on Medicare Sept. I chose a G plan. You do have to make a monthly payment, but it covers what parts A and B don't, except for the part B once a year deductible, less than 300. If you get the policy when you're first eligible for Medicare you don't have to pass any underwriting, if you choose something else and want to switch down the road you have to pass medical underwriting.
Of course you'll also need a part D for prescriptions which is separate and has premiums too.
Contact a local agency on aging, they usually will help sort options out .

I am on Medicare with plan G supplemental (Blue Cross). My supplemental will only pay the difference between bill and what Medicare paid. It will not pay anything if Medicare does not pay.

In other words, if it is not a Medicare approved treatment / tests, my supplemental will not pay anything. I have not had to many problems,

Not sure if all supplemental policies are like that.

Also, make sure you know difference between Original Medicare with supplemental vs Medicare Advantage. And if your clinic / hospital accepts the policy you plan on taking.

Someone on Breast Cancer group asked similar question in last few days, you make want to check out the responses.

Thank you Laurie for clarifying my comment about Mdicare G. That was what I meant, but didn't word it correctly!
