Ha Ha Ha! I live in northern Canada and the lack of health coverage is bad enough in the southern parts of the country but up here it's even worse. 20% of the population in our town have no GP to look after them. I'm not one of those but I think that my GP would be unavailable for a dermatologic consult - I don't think that I would get past his receptionist with such a request for an appointment and yes - contrary to privacy etiquette that I think should be in place when trying to make an appointment, these gals always want to know what it is that you want to see the GP about. The nerve!
At any rate, I am not that concerned as I know that it's not infected and it will resolve in time. No, the point of my posting here was to hopefully snag a health professional who might peruse these pages and have an Aha moment that would nail the diagnosis. I am not aware of being bitten by a spider but we do have a few here and there around the house so it could be that.

Sorry to hear about the lack of healthcare where you are. But as for the receptionist needing to know the nature of your business that is definitely something they’re required to ask so that they can help the GP plan out their schedules efficiently. It’s not being nosy.
Anytime we have a lesion on our body that grows instead of subsiding it is cause enough to get in to see a doctor. I think you may have joked about a flesh eating bacteria but they can gain a foothold with something as simple as a bug bite or a scratch. All it needs is a point of entry. So, joking aside, it would still be a good idea to have this checked out.
Certainly monitor your temperature if you start experiencing any joint pain, flu-like symptoms or tiredness.
Members on our forum aren’t medical professional so no one will be able to diagnose or offer treatment for what we’re seeing in the picture. But we can use our knowledge or experiences to offer suggestions to other members. And from my experience I’d have a doctor look at that.
