Hello @geraldmosier, Welcome to Connect. It seems unconscionable to not be able to find a doctor for follow up care after such a traumatic motorcycle accident. I'm wondering if this is because of two different insurance companies being involved - motorcycle accident insurance for the ER, surgery, hospital stay and then being turned over you your health insurance. Your story sounds eerily similar to this NPR story:
-- They were turned away from urgent care. The reason? Their car insurance:

Have you discussed the problem of not being able to find a doctor to follow up with your health insurance company or your motorcycle insurance company?

John, thank you for your concern. I have talked to my insurance provider and to answer it is my one and only insurance they sent me to a totally incompetent person didn't even look at my injuries was focused on my cancer, I explained I've come to grips with that let's deal with the obvious but nothing.i resorted to calling an old buddy that is 19 combat tour medic retired he and I removed sutures treated with iv antibiotics and did sight on treatment.the entire situation is much much more insane than I can talk on here.i resolve myself to a old family home on the lake, can't drive, nobody has been by for weeks.ive turned from grief to extreme anger

Incredible! If you're able to, and this is only a suggestion, contact a lawyer.
Hopeful that you are receive solutions, and for recovery.

Again thanks John, I have a request to mayo under review now. The one thing in this situation makes it personal is the clinic I saw primary care at is owned by a partnership of Dr's one of which is my cousin.as soon as I can ride I'll have a discussion with my cousin on family values.

I received a notice of refusal of treatment from ortho at mayo clinic and told to seek treatment locally I'm beginning to have the feeling it's me. Sounds paranoid I know but I have excellent insurance I have followed all Ave known to me. On seeking a lawyer john I'm between a rock on that, I'm receiving care for cancer and if I have a gain in income I loose my medical coverage.

If you were in the military don’t you have VA benefits and can get healthcare there?
So very sorry you’re going through this- it doesn’t make sense at all!

We all make mistakes in our youth, mine was larger than most.I did a 10 year retreat in federal prison thus loosing my benefit package with the USN. I've discovered there are a large number of people in the same if not worse situation with health care.it seems I'm one of the few that's screaming from top of high.not to worry I've moved this into high gear imbarrisment is a powerful tool. I've been on several national podcasts and only just begun. I'll get something done just to shut me up.

In reply to @geraldmosier … myself and a few others I know who have been able to access Mayo in the past are being given the same message as you are (Rochester). We seem to think their system has changed and getting care there now is nearly impossible. One friend of mine had received care there for the past 20+ years and has now been directed to be seen locally. We continue to have limited specialists there, but otherwise we cannot access any new services. I don’t know what’s happening, but the advertising says “come” but the answer is you can’t. I hope this will change. Good luck in your journey. May you find other resources to help you.
