I’m 46 and had total hip replacement 2 weeks ago. The pain and numbness is not going away. My doctor diagnosed me with pain central sensitization disorder. So frustrated.

Good morning @rachael1357, I haven't met you yet. Welcome to Connect. This is a place whereby sharing with others, we learn more about our own conditions. Two weeks does not seem like a long time to recover from your hip surgery. What medications are you taking for pain control?

I think the best way I can help you right now is to introduce you to @rwinney. Rachel has been diagnosed with Central Sensitization Syndrome. She understands the symptoms and has been through years of searching for relief.

May you be free, protected, and safe from inner and outer harm.

Went to orthopaedic Dr. last week. His opinion is that when I had total hip replacement he lengthend the leg to keep hip in place. When he did this, he stretched all the muscles and tendons in the thigh. Therefore they say nothing can be done and I am left in severe pain and can not walk except on a walker. Anyone have any ideas on anything that can be done. Thank you.

I had double hip replacement as well in 2018. one good other not as good. I go to step and get a sharp pain in my thigh area about drops you it is that bad. Well its been 4 yrs now, has gotten better pain is less until yesterday I was coming up my steps and (icy steps) and a tiny little movement tweaked that left hip. I have been in terrible pain since yesterday, cant put weight on leg, I have to do like three tests before it stops and lets me put weight on it. I cannot function like this, going to hospital to see what I can find out. Oh, for others try a product called Blu Emu, apply from hip to toes this has been a God send for me with my hip pain, it may not cover everyones, but if it is nerve pain which alot of mine has been this product works wonderfully for that. It is sold at Wal-mart and most drug stores. I am going t try it today for new issue and see what happens, I will keep you all posted.

Wow, that sharp pain is really an indication that something has changed. Time for an image to see if there is a fracture or something loose. Usually if it is a tweaked muscle, you can bear weight - it just hurts to do it.
Let us know what you learn! In the meantime, do you still have a cane or walker you can use to stay safe?

I ask the dr about the cortisone shot too he said it would not help the pain in my inner thigh because everything had been stretch when they did the surgery. I have heard about the ioil also but we are not a state that approve it. We may have to take a vacation. LO L. The Dr did give me a prescription for a physical therapist that does Dry Needling something similar to acupuncture. I will keep you posted. Waiting on the PT office to call back woth an apt. Keep me posted if you have any luck anywhere. Thank you.

I had partial hip replacement almost a year ago after a person at baggage claim fell back and knocked me to the ground fracturing my hip.
I sometimes get a stabbing pain on the thigh and sometime can’t put weight on that leg-from what I’ve read here it sounds like end of stem pain. Is there any treatment for this? h
