So discouraged after bragging about my new Internist
I have been conversing with a few wonderful members of this group, and was ecstatic about a new-to-me PCP, an Internist. After nearly 5 yrs with no diagnosis for sudden onset iron deficiency anemia (started early 2018), and being continuously ill all this time, I FINALLY found a doctor recently that I pinned all my hopes on. But now I feel gutted once again. This new PCP knows my history. She ordered my very first stool specimen (how has 5 yrs gone by without this test?!). So, I had follow up appt today, and high on the list was stool specimen results. She said it was "normal". I was shocked considering my nonstop black, tarry, stools for 6+ mos coupled with constant drop in iron and HGB. But okay. The floor fell out for me when I asked if any blood was found? Her response, "I didn't test for blood". For Pete's sake!! She has seen photos with obvious blood in stool, not to mention constantly dropping iron/hgb. What?! I'm sickened and feel an inexplicable loss of hope. It's been a nightmare to this point, and I was over the moon to think I had finally found a great match with doctor after years of botched Healthcare. I feel hopeless.

Thank you. No I didn't take the lower rate-no cancellation. Hahahhaha with the price of the tickets, tho, I'd have to be dying to cancel anyway lol!!! AND....I get a bathrobe and slippers for the actual time of 3-4 hrs i will actually spend in the room after dinner, show and sleeping hahahahha! You only live once right! It will be a great night and I'm excited!! 😁😁 I think they have a rooftop bar - wonder if it's open after the show?
Hahahahahaha!!!!
Seriously tho, I'm sorry....
All turned out well yesterday, after all. First: you laughed and that’s always healing!
Then the nurse called to say my (precious?) samples had been found and all were negative. Now they will send off the requisition for Cologuard test.
The docs office is short staffed at the moment. He had covid in May, from when their sons visited, His receptionist and his nurse both got it twice. Health care workers should be granted immunity from this plague, and would be if we had any control over the world.
I’m still wondering when the doc will respond to the twice emailed question of why my ferritin is low. Medicine is an imperfect art.
Be well!
Yes Covid really messed up this world in so many ways. And then you have long Covid affecting people...I haven't been the same since Covid last August. Brought out stroke symptoms more. My memory is gone. Doctors nurses receptionists PA's - they're all messed up training new people losing senior people. It's crazy. Just crazy.
Just glad they found your sample!
Sorry Bc I know how frustrating that is
Congrats on 43 years of marriage that's awesome; jerrysgirl3 and wiggins32 @wiggins32, my heart goes out to both of you. Adding additional hugs and prayers to both
Health Care can be curse and blessing (we are still science experiments) Flip a coin to know the next test and the opposite opinion of different doctors in same week - good luck
