Severe Constipation
I have had severe constipation for a long time. I drink lots of water and have had almost every test possible done and tried many prescription medications. These medications work for a little bit then stop. I currently take 3 docusate in morning and at night I will take 2 senna/docusate. I still dont have a daily BM. So i get bloated crampy and back pain from this.
I was told I could go to the Mayo Clinic as they may have ideas for me because they are out of options for me here.
Anyone else suffer from this?

Thank you! I'm willing to try anything at this point. Not a huge fan of all the stomach pills at the store, it's ridiculous and money makers, all I can think of.
Constipation virtually stopped when I stopped taking Ondansetron for nausea. I am not a health care professional and not suggesting this will work for you as I am just sharing my personal experience. Please check with your health care professional before changing any medications.
When you are constipated, sometimes adding fiber supplements just adds to the bulk in your system which can be a problem if you have hard stools. What works for me, recommended by my GI Dr, is fiber twice a day (psyllium or Citrucel) close to lunch and dinner time. (My Dr said Citrucel is less likely to cause excess gas.) In between the fiber, about mid-day, I take a dose of Miralax. I've found I can take slightly less than recommended for best results. I was also taking 4 oz of prune juice in the morning but stopped because of it's high sugar content.
Possibly ask your gi if something else that doesn’t constipate. Often other drugs for same condition but not same side effect.
Why butter mixed in with warm prune juice?
Apparently an old midwife remedy for constipation for expectant mothers.
Hi,
I have gastroparesis and have had trials of different medications, which seem to have had some bad side effects-last one to try is Motegrity, which I have seen to be expensive. Are there any manufacturer coupons or assistance?

The sooner you get to Mayo the better you will feel. Meanwhile add oat bran to diet, and 4-5 dried prunes, nuts & seeds on to lots of green salad, keep moving either walking or exercise ; Sleepy Time tea may relieve cramping (camomile)
I’ve always dealt with slow bowels Tried many things in my diet. During chemo it got worse. A nutritionist said she heard a half cup of warmed prune juice helps. Boy did it!
I put Miralax in water every night now so I won’t have to drink that prune juice!
