Tarlov Cyst on the spine: Any advice?

Posted by vadaanglin @vadaanglin, Jan 31, 2019

I have a large tarlov cyst 2.5cm and 3.5cm on the spine in the lumbar region. Some what rare and doctors seem to know little about and say they are nonproblematic. I'm having chronic pain. Any advise will be appreciated.

Dr Witham at John’s Hopkins works on them. I am going in January for a consult. If any place knows what to do it should be John’s Hopkins.

Can a Tarlov cyst go away on its own?

Hi I have been helping my mother following a lumbar fusion. While in the waiting room met 2 ladies whose husbands were having surgery for that very thing. They were from out of town. I cannot for the life of me remember the surgeon but he was very sought after. Which is why they came all the way to Texas for the surgery. It was at the Texas spine hospital medical city Dallas. Apparently the doctor specializes in the tarlov cyst. I will try and find out his name. One had come from colorado the other from Nebraska. Sorry I don’t have more information than this.

I believe it’s Dr.

Hi! I'm slated to get surgery from Dr. Feigenbaum for 6 tarlov cysts. The issue I'm running into is that Aetna won't approve the unlisted codes they are using. Do you have any advice? Also what insurances approved your surgeries?

I have Tarlov Cysts at all levels of the spine. I have chronic pain in the upper right stomach and had my gallbladder removed with the pain still there. I have pain also in the thoracic area of the spine. Left foot numbness, burning mouth and my body aches all over. Can someone point me in the right direction. This all started after a reclast infusion for osteoporosis that landed me in the ER with severe pain in the thoracic area and upper right abdomen pain. Then got worse after Covid vaccine and 3 days later needed up in ER with Chicken Pox.
