3yrs with pulsating tinnitus having seen ENT & audiology , slight deafness left ear however I've also got narrowing of cartoid arteries which having spoken to neurosurgeon isn't my knackered neck but down to the narrowing of said arteries & need to see vascular surgeon... if I'm stented isn't guaranteed to stop the all mighty annoying pulsating tinnitus...

I noticed your post is old, so I hope you get this. I have tinnitus in my left ear only. Like you it will get worse at night. I dont even know which doctor I see. My primary or an ear specialist. It is extremely annoying. I wish I could be of more help to you. But you are not alone, and please keep us updated.

Hi @suz22, I seen an ENT for my left ear Pulsatile Tinnitus, had an MRI and hearing test, nothing wrong! I have had it about 3 years now and during the day like you said sometimes I don't hear it, I think because of noise but it is quiet around me I hear it. It's very annoying like you said especially when I'm trying to go to sleep. If you get any help please let us know!! Thanks Angie

Hi Angie, Thank you for getting back to me. The next time I see my ENT I will ask him about it. My cousin has tinnitus in her right ear. She told me the heartbeat noise is normal, and they can't do anything about it. I don't know if her doctor told her that. She said it also bothers her more when she tries to go to sleep. Which we know is hard to do. You would think in this day of modern technology they would have medicine or a procedure to eliminate this. I wonder how many people like us have this problem? I will post again if I can find out anything. Thx very much for writing me back.

I've had pulsatile tinnitus for 2 years. I saw 2 ENT specialist and both recommended mri and other tests. I am not bothered by day and hear it when trying to sleep. Just like the posts mentioned. It's troublesome when I lay on the side of the effected ear. I think I'm starting to get used to it. I fall asleep rather quickly so I don't hear it all night long.

If anyone has ever resolved this issue, please let us know.

Your ENT can usually rule out dangerous causes of p.t. via tests,
but other MDs, e.g., neurointerventional radiologists, might be able to identify fixable problems that aren’t necessarily life-threatening - just extremely disturbing.

Thank you. I'll check out The website and see if it will lead me in the right direction, or at least give me more information on the issue. By the way, the name "whooshers" is spot on. That exactly how I would describe it. A turbulent flow.
I'll also look into a neuro.
