Kidney Cyst on incidental finding: I have more questions than answers

So I had an MRI done on my lower back on December 26th and they had an incidental finding on a 1.2cm cyst fast forward to December 29th I had an ultrasound that detected a 1.7 cm cyst with few internal septations which caused for an additional mri on jan 17. Now I have 2 cysts on my kidney. That just leaves me with more questions then answers

@rangerop6 Inadvertently, some years ago, my urologist found a cyst on my right kidney that turned out to be cancerous. My urologist wanted me to see an interventional radiologist, and he later performed cryoblation on the affected kidney, that is, he froze the cancerous mass causing it to dissipate and never to return after 5 years of annual x rays. This procedure was done as an outpatient at my hospital so I went home shortly after. I have told this story before on this forum, and another patient had the same procedure done so she didn't have to wait months to see another specialist for additional testing. This was an option for me, and it worked out very well. Check with your doc to see if he/she feels this is an alternative as well. This procedure was pain free and from what I read years ago 90%+ successful.

I wish it was that easy for me but I am currently in the Army and they don’t want to issue out any referrals for me to be seen. I’m worried that this might be something hereditary because I just lost my father to kidney cancer

Please explore all options with your commanding officer. If you are stateside, perhaps they can offer a medical leave? If not, see if you can send your medical records to an interventional radiologist for another review. These practioners are quite common, and you may be able to do this as an outpatient.
