I wonder if there are certain exercises that might strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter?

Hi Sart
That is a good question, if you find out please let me know.
I read about self massage of that area and am trying it. I have horrible reflux and am scared that it may be bile backing up.
What r your symptoms?

Hey all, I need help. Can someone please let me know if doing breathing exercises and yoga has helped with this?

These exercises help many with the reflux problem. I have an esophagus problem and lung problem and they for sure help the lung… my esophagus does not work .. and my sphincter is slow to open. I think the exercises help some with my sphincter… but the food sometimes will not go down.

I read it some time ago, but even though it was posted on a reputable site, it seemed questionable.it would be goog to know if any follow up studies replicated the findings . If so, this should be more widely used? Tried? Explained as an option for patients. But as a lone case study, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Would ne great if it actually worked. Anyone know of more work in this area?

I don’t know if people saw this as a reply to the article about the exercises to strengthen the LES, so I am re-posting this question here because I’m really curious if anyone has heard anything more about this from reputable sources doctors other journals. Where can you find the exercises!

The article describing these exercises report was posted by I think the moderator. It’s two or three post above your question.
I found myself just by googling something.. you.

– A Simple Exercise to Strengthen the Lower Esophageal Sphincter and Eliminate Gastroesophageal Reflux: An Autobiographical Case Report (2022) this is a title you should be able to find it that way if you don’t see the link above, it seems a bit questionable, but if it works well, that’s good news. Either one would like to see some replication of this case study.
