Floating stool, unintended weight loss, feel full relatively quickly
Hi. I have the above referenced issues, but feel relatively good…albeit losing 15 pounds in 4 months without trying. Have good appetite, but get full relatively quickly. Colonoscopy all good. Endoscopy just shows erosions, waiting for biopsy results. Gastro says it’s GERD, but I don’t have much more than mild stomach discomfort. Have CT with dye of chest, pelvis/abdomen scheduled, but thinking it’s aggressive and maybe should wait for endoscopic pathology. Stool always floats, but fecal fat stool test was negative. Blood work CBC normal. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

You’ll have biopsy results soon but in your case I think it’s important to follow through with the requested CT studies. Sometimes labs don’t tell the whole story.
Hi Lissa @sonic997 -
Sounds like you might want to ask your medicsl team about testing for gastroparesis because you have some of the classical signs. I am not a health care practioner but have this condition myself. They can do a gastric emptying test by either eating a meal with a tracer or a GEBT that is a breath test. My abdominal CT was normal.
Please keep us posted. Wishing you good health.

@sonic997 I agree with @astaingegerdm to follow through with the CT scans and rule out any problem with your pancreas.
I agree with having a gastric emptying study done. I am also wondering about your gallbladder and whether it is functioning properly. There is acid reflux and bile reflux so curious if they specified. They are treated with different medications. But I feel like you would have way more symptoms with GERD, such as burning in throat and a terrible taste in your mouth especially in the morning after sleeping flat. Anyway, I am no medical professional but just going off my own experiences. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Another comment:
CT with contrast of chest, abdomen and pelvis is nowadays not considered very aggressive. It lets one look at those parts of the body that otherwise cannot be seen or felt and when blood tests can’t tell the whole story.
I have been through these many times for different reasons.
Thank you. I am going to do the CT scans Friday. Thank you
I agree with everything you said. I am going for CT scans Friday and then follow up with Doctor 2/1.
I will discuss your thoughts with him
I’m glad you don’t consider it aggressive because I was nervous about all of the barium and dye. But I’m going Friday!
Was your abdominal scan with contrast? I will ask him about the gastroparesis. Thanks so much
Yes my CT was with contrast. They test for gastroparesis by determining how long it takes food to exit your stomach so it is a dynamic rather than static test. Please keep posting. Wishing you well!
