Does anyone know of this. I think its rare but does exist. My neurologist does not know about this. I have compression between my c5 and c6 cervical disk and have had alot of sun damage to my skin.

If you have low B12, you may have a gene mutation that impedes absorption, the MTHFR gene, there is a simple test for this…ask you doctor. There is an active form of B12 that is more easily absorbed.
Also, On a Facebook group for itch with no rash…some discovered that when they took a preworkout supplement they did not itch…Beta Alanine is a otc supplement that kills the itch for me for 5+ years…I buy the NOW brand on Amazon and take 750 mg every four hours as needed. The preworkout dose is higher and can cause skin tingling so start slow. Two Stanford pediatric dermatologists wrote a paper on beta Alanine and itch.

Hi moylandavis, can you tell me which Facebook group for Itch with no rash, you view? I am trying to see that particular page but cannot find it.
I have some kind of neuropathic ITCH w/n rash that has come back to my forearm and now my feet get extremely HOT and tingling in the night. This nightmare is keeping me awake again. I tried using creams but no pills or medication except this week I am trying ALA antioxidant (200 mg), hoping for something good! Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

I have had BRP in January-March for two years now. I also have osteoarthritis and limited range of motion in my neck. I am a 64 yo woman.

The only thing that has helped me is to take a shower and move my arms under water that is considerably hotter than I can stand. I feel the itching and relief in that order as I do so and I continue this until the itching is gone. This is currently providing substantial relief for 2-3 full days and I then repeat the process. I follow the shower with slathering Cetaphil moisturizing cream (not the lotion) on both arms.

I read a recommendation for the (almost scalding) water in a blog last year and am so so thankful for the relief it provides.

All the very best.

Hi, I to have BRP. I’m 81 and have had BRP for some 5 years. My go to relief is the complete opposite, "ice cold water" and I mean cold. Relief comes in about 2 minutes and use to last for a day or so now relief is more like 6 to 12 hrs. I’m further dealing with Neuropathic Pruritus, Notalgia Paresthetica. Probably my last line of defense is "guided meditation". A few years ago I would continue telling my self "there are worse things out there", now ? not quite so sure.

Im a 44 yr old female, this is my second summer with Brachioradial pruritis symptoms. I have a history of neck injury due to a car accident. Sun exposure is the only trigger for me. My skin hadn't been exposed to sun for two years during covid pandemic so after it ended, we went on vacation and I was out in pretty intense sun all day, then experienced a horrible itch on arms chest shoulders and back. I scratched like crazy, lost a lot of sleep, found zero relief until I applied ice packs on arms and chest. But even with the ice, the itch returned and it was difficult and upsetting to sleep with ice packs on my arms every night. I decided to stop scratching the itch completely, it was hard, I just ignored the itch, and eventually the skin healed and the itch subsided. I did gently rub the arms from time to time but never scratched with my nails. During Fall, winter, and spring months I was fine no symptoms, I stayed out of the sun, covered my arms and body with protective clothing and never had symptoms again until this summer. I was recently out in the sun without spf for about an hour and had 3 horrible days and nights of itch on my forearms neck chest and shoulders. I ignored the itch as much as possible, showered twice a day to keep skin cool and dry, and after a few days the itch gradually subsided. DO NOT SCRATCH the skin! Ignore it as much as possible and do not ice it, it only irritates the skin more and prolongs the symptoms. Instead gently rub the arms, but never scratch. Eventually it will subside. Stay out of direct sunlight, cover up your arms neck and shoulders, use spf. Hope this helps someone, prayers for healing to all of you.

I have Ichthyosis which with small white scaly bumps. I go crazy with the itching and scratch them off. I have been to a primary physician and to Dermatologist who had no idea what was wrong. A visiting nurse who came to see me after a hospitalization for dehydration, told me the above name for my condition. Has anyone else had these problems and how have they handled it? The visiting nurse told me to apply ammonium lactate 12%.

I have had BRP for oveer 10 years. Have been prescribed many topicals, injections and pills. Nothing worked. I usually start with a burning sensation then erupts into a sore or postule. If thats the right word. On my own I found that if I used Capzasin HP and Ebanol (numbing creme) I got some relief for a few hours.Apply the Ebanol first to mnumb the skin then apply the Capzasin. This worked for a long time then I found it hard to get the Capzasin. Walmart-Target- local supermarkets (wants 30.00) for atube. I found it on Amazon, but was limited how many tubes I could buy. Yesterday on Amazon it was out of stock. Today I was able to order 2 tubes for 18.00 a piece. So my wuestion is- IF anyone else has used the Capzasin and if it is no longer available - alternative.

Hi Lizzie85, thanks for your info on your itch with no rash.
Your thoughts on B12 are helpful to me. I also have an itch with no rash, currently on my arm (used to be on both arms) and I have been using an antihistamine for help. Now I have burning and hot feet! So I am looking for remedies for that. But I digress....I am using a B12 supplement after my blood work showed a low level. And I will now pursue a B12 wth no additions. Thank you!

Never took Vitamin B12, This happened to me out of nowhere. When it first started my husband used to tell me to wear long sleeves cuae if we were shopping for clothes salesperson may be r reluctant -- never happened. It just continually got worse. Went to local Dermatologists and none could help. Also went to Allergists and had manty tests. Nothing.
SPomeone recommended a well kn own Dermatologist in NYC. We wen t to him for many years and was prescribed all kinds of topicals and pills and shots. NOthing. took him afew years to say it was BRP. Meanwhile I came up with my own remedy to treat thje BRP, It works better than anything ever prescribed. BUt I still continually have breakouts. No cure for this. I hope you do not have this -cause it will mean a long time of discomfort.

I was scratched til I bled on my forearms only for 30 years!! I found it on the Mayo clinic Online support group. Not sure if you already know, its called Brachioradial Pruritus. Its related to cervical vertibra issues. I had a pinched nerve in my neck & my DO Dr who does gentle OMT'S which releases all my tight muscles. Since 2000 I was on hydroxizine. I cut back 2 yrs ago when itching stopped. Only some on elbows. One Dr said try Aspercreme, it works!, Also Prescription Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP 0.1%
