Part of the frustration of Grover's is that it seems to affect everyone differently, and everyone responds differently to itch relievers. On my first visit to an allergist, she prescribed a quadruple dose of Zyrtec because I told her I had gotten no relief from Benadryl. The Zyrtec did absolutely nothing either. But many people, like you, do get some relief from antihistamines.
