Clonazepam.025 vs Gabapentin 300mg

Posted by molly7234 @molly7234, Jan 8, 2023

I have had peripheral neuropathy in the feet and lower legs, my feet tingle and burn at night and I experience restless leg syndrome. From what I remember with the clonazepam it just helped with everything and put me to sleep with a gabapentin my legs feel super heavy and, it doesn’t help me go to sleep. So I have to take 5 mg of Ambien. I stopped the clonazepam because I read so much about benzos I’m 77 years old so I just need to get sleep .
tonight. I thought I’m not going to take the gabapentin. I’ll just take Tylenol to see if it helps me get settled. It did not.

I was on gabapentin at first and it was barely helping. I was switched to amitriptyline and it has helped tremendously. The best sleep since the start of idiopathic peripheral neuropathy.

As we get older, sleep becomes very important and is difficult for most. I'm 68 and have never slept well due to Chronic Pain. Everyone has different reasons, but in this day and age there are plenty of options. A sleeping pill might be more effective to get some sleep, and at 78 years old wouldn't worry too much about it becoming a habit. I didn't start smoking weed until dispensary's started in NY. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I take a couple of vape hits of 50/50 formula: Half CBD/ Half THC, and go right back to sleep. There are times that a .5mg of Klonapin, and will sleep the extra hours needed. Remember that this works for me, I don't know about others.

Thank you for that link. It seems gabapentin can be given off label for sleep. Maybe I should take the 300 mg earlier and see if it works.
