Vertigo driving me nuts: worse after eating
Have had Vertigo for a month non stop.
Trip to ER 2 weeks ago vomitting and fell down my steps at home.
Diagnosed with positional Vertigo and put on anti dizzy med and nausea med which only help to keep me from the vomitting thresh hold.
I start Physical therapy today where they say they will put the crystals in my inner ear back where they belong.
One thing i have noticed is my vertigo gets worse as the day goes on.
Is this common?
Also does this physical therapy really help?
I am skeptical that it will work.
Anybody else have prolonged never ending Vertigo and did physical therapy really help.
I cant handle much more of this feeling dizzy and off balance.
Thank you

Hi: I have Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo. The Epley maneuver is what they do and can teach you how to do it It works. Sometimes it takes a couple tries and you can feel wavier, but sometimes it works right away. Your movement is what makes it ebb and flow. You can get a virus that can do that as well but typically that clears up. It has been so helpful to be able to do the maneuver when I feel it coming on.
I hope this helps!
Thank you.
I have much new respect for Vertigo as i have never had it.
I cant believe how quick it can shut down your life.
It makes you scared to even move.
Today was first session and go back friday...didnt notice any change after today.
Have you checked your B12 levels?! I had some of the same issues, and found that I was deficient in B12, which has helped.
My neurologist taught me something similar to Epley maneuver, and it worked for me perfectly.
Sit strait. Take any small card (like business card) in your hand, keep it on your eyes level, start moving it SLOWLY to the right, moving your eyes (only eyes, not head!) along, the same direction, stop when your eyes start to feel physically uncomfortable. Slowly come back to center, with your eyes following, and continue same type of movement to the left. Do it 10 times to each side.
Repeat it for 10 times moving card Up and Down, on the same manner. Make sure your eyes strictly following, up to their limit. Couple times a day may help.
Due to current episode of dizziness, I Just finished doing the Cawthorne and Epley Maneuvers which have helped me in the past. Then I read your comment 🙂 I First experienced them many years ago (I'm 83 now) and found these to help. Checked out WebMD and found 4 exercises then a therapist showed me the Cawthorne maneuver. They are all similar and I'm not sure which helps more, but do them several times a day for about a week, then all is well for months before recurring. Wish you well!
Epley maneuver was very effective for me.
Vertigo on overdrive after eating
Still waiting to see ENT for Vertigo lasting for well ever a month.
My Vertigo never goes away but a pattern is starting to appear.
My Vertigo gets really bad after eating for a couple hours.
I had bloodwork done and blood sugar levels were fine.
I am on meclizine which has been upped to 3 times a day
It helps me from getting to the point where i vomit.
Has anybody else had their Vertigo get worse right after eating?
Thank You
Hi da69!
I'm sorry to hear you are having such an awful time with your vertigo; especially when it interferes with your eating! I have a mild case of vertigo but nothing so severe as yours. What are you eating that it reacts so strongly? I eat food without any preservatives when I can. Also, my husband and I make a lot of things from scratch and we never eat out. Eating naturally as possible seems to have helped us stay healthy. Have you looked up the side effects of your medications? That could be causing some of your problems also. We also drink a lot of water and Gatorade which helps balance your electrolytes. I hope things get better for you!

Vertigo also drove me nuts , Ripley etc was no help.. It took the 5th ENT to figure it out. Vestibular Migraine, a relatively new diagnosis. For me, it comes about from congestion caused by allergies .Had no auras, so had disregarded migraine possibility for years. It was also aggravated by coffee, watermelon, peaches and tomatoes. The inflammation puts pressure on inner ear. Found very helpful website for Vestibular.org. Hope you get relief, it's awful and scary, raises your bp.
